I was looking for a Pocket PC version of Quran which was transliterated and translated. I couldn’t find one. So I took the initiative of creating a transliterated version using USC http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/ website. I also added the translation from M.H. Shakir found at http://www.hti.umich.edu/k/koran/ . This was a tedious task but finally its done. So why I am telling this. I need serious guppies to look over this work and guide me so I can get this blessed (in a sense that its Right and no mistakes are made). I just found it challanging and interesting so just went ahead with it, once I started couldn’t stop.
PM me if anyone is interested in taking this task. You will need Microsoft reader (its a free ~2 meg download). The file is ~778K.
I hope this is not soliciting. If it is my apologies.
Edit: If I can get this blessed I will put it in public domain.
^^ Yes I went to this site, but they don't have a transliterated version with english translation. I did search for the type that I was looking for when I did'nt find one I embarked on doing it myself.

its either Transliteration OR translation NOT Both. At least that was my impression.
But it’s OK. The job is done. Let’s move on to step 2, which is looking for volunteers.
I didn't transliterate it. Just programatically provided a mapping between translation and transliteration.
The price difference is only $4. Plus their version is 115 megs (which is expensive on a handheld), My end result yielded 778 KB.
The issue I came across and the reason for volunteers was; Shakir's translation on the website (see the original post) had errors. There were a few verses that were combined, some were labeled incorrectly. I found that out when my script produced errors. So I started checking Shakirs translation with another Shakirs translation from another site. I found that the other sites were correct. BTW that was one of the reasons that I asked about Surah 9 and why it didn't begin with Bismillah. For instance there was a website that had Bismillah on Surah 9. After you shed light on that subject I contacted this getnleman and had him correct his site.
Now I went through verse by verse but I am not educated enough in this subject so wanted other pair of eyes to check and verify.
ofcourse u must realize that this is a time consuming task....
unless he who volunteers is really committed u cannot be sure he has done a healthy check....
if i were u, i'd not rely on anyone on this....
i used this program AALIM, its a famous program for translation/recitation/hadtih etc etc....
but it too has errors....
many places the translation and transliteration dont match the correct verse cuz a verse has been skipped or something else....
u need to be extra careful and have really trustworthy ppl to do the proof-reading....
