Translation/Transliteration please?..

Hi,

I want to write these few words in my Husbands Anniversary card but I don’t quite have the vocabulary or the skill to translate this into Urdu and still keep the same meaning/feeling behind it.

Please, please could someone help me to translate this into urdu? If someone could write this in urdu and email it me, that would be so helpful.. Our anniversary is tmrw so if someone could reply today, that would be great..

These are the words I would like translating.: “An anniversary is a time to celebrate the joys of today, the memories of yesterday, and the hopes of tomorrow”..

Thank you!!

Barfii..!!

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..

I can translate this much in verse, you would have to weave around it -

Beetain hue pal ki yaadein
Aaney waale kal ki tammana

Maybe you can add this line on top -

Aaj ki khushiyon mein shaamil hai...

I donno how to translate the word 'anniversary'

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..

Thanks for your reply Nihal..

I guess Anniversary would translate to "Saal ghira".. I think?

Thinking about this again I get.." Aaj ki hushyah, kal ki yado aur (added: hum dundo) aane waaley ki umeed"?

Whats plural for Hope/Umeed?

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..

Yeh salgirah, aaj ki khusiyoo'N say Muzzayyan hay, iss main beetay huway lamhooN ki khush-gawaar yaadaiN bhee shamil hain aur ye tul'oo honay walay nayee din ki ashaooN say bharpoor bhee hay...

Hope can be translated as Aasha..

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..

Aasha is Hindi not Urdu fara? I think....

Well Barfii, I was trying to be a bit poetic on it, to tell you the fact I hardly know Urdu and much less than you do.
I think fara has caught the nerve well and it looks good.

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..

Nihal you are very much right about this but Aasha is widely used in Urdu poetry too, had I used UmeedaiN, it wouldn't have sound appropriate/poetic at all.

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..

Thank you Fara for ur reply..x x

Muzzayyan, beetay, tul'oo, bharpoor.. I'm not familiar with these words, could someone explain their meanings?..

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..

Yes fara you are right. At some point or other there is a definite blend in both the languages.
Mostly I have seen Hindi speakers borrow from Urdu but very rarely the other way around.
Personally I find Urdu to be too very rich and beautiful to borrow.
Infact if Urdu were a lady, she would be on my song!!!

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..

**

Muzzayyan:** decorated

Beetay huway lamhooN: time that has been spent/gone by**

Tul'oo: Sunrise / dawn

AashaooN say bharpoor : **brimming with hope

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..

Thank u so much Fara!! x x x

Now to write that in Urdu.. Here's hoping my spelling mistakes don't ruin it..

Re: Translation/Transliteration please?..
