Translate Urdu Marriage Certificate to English

Gupshup forum, can anyone tell me how to translate a urdu marriage certificate? Can I do it myself? I’m not a certified translator. Do I need to send it the FCO or High Commission in UK or need to get it signed by attester or lawyer etc? Will they ask to prove the marriage took place or is the urdu certificate enough evidence?

it just needs to be translated precisely...sure, if can, u shall. i guess it just needs to be notorized :D

I suggest you get a lawyer to do it for you to avoid any complications in the future.

I have a translation template of the basic nikkah name used in Pakistan. You just have to fill the right hand column with the same info as in the Pakistani one - names, dates, mahr etc.

You will need to get it attested by a notary public in Pakistan though.

You can translate your marriage certificate from **Certified Legal Translators. **These translators are holding licence from concern department to translate any document in any languages and they put stamp and seal as authenticate / certified translators.

Well if u r trying to use ur Marriage Certificate outside from Pakistan then i suggest u get translate it from certified translator, then get it attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

I'm in the UK so I don't think I need to get the documents signed by notary public in Pakistan.

I don't think all this is necessary. The nikkah nama is a standard form with a standard translation. One translation is not going to be different from another, other than the personal information entered.

My husband got his spouse visa 2 days after we submitted his forms. My cousins (who were married earlier) and I all used the same basic translated form and filled in the details.

Attestation by a notary public is important requirement.

Hmm.. I'm confused now. If it was a Paksitani marriage certificate, then you will need an appropriate person to attest it. Not sure if a lawyer is enough.

Emad! your marriage certificate should be attested by

1- Nikha Registarar
2- Notary Officer
2- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

For its translation, it should be translated by Certified Legal Translastor and then attested by MOFA.
