Transit UK from/to US

I would like to know, if a transit visa is required for Pakistani Citizens if transiting through UK from/to their journey to US.

Whats available on the website is the following:. I am unable to make what they mean by the bolded part of section-3. Like currently I have a J-1 Visa and I am In US for more than six months, does that apply that I need to have a visa before flygin through UK.

* A valid visa for entry **to** Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel through the UK as part of a journey from another country or territory to the country for which you have the entry visa.

Re: Transit UK from/to US

^^ Even if I have permanent US visa????????/

Re: Transit UK from/to US

If you have permanent US visa, then you wouldn't require transit visa if your transit would be for less than 24 hrs.If its for more than 24 hrs, then you surely require it.

How come you'v got permanent US visa, whats that?

A permanent visa means someone is allowed to stay and work in US on permanent basis. the definition of permanent is usually 10 years and it needs renewal anyway. After 5 years one can apply to be citizen. Please refer to USCIS Home Page site for more information.

Re: Transit UK from/to US

As long as you have a valid US visa, a valid flight ticket and your transit in UK is less than 24 hours, you do not need a transit visa for UK. Off course, you will not be allowed to apply for a transit visa at the airport in UK so you have to spend your time inside the airport.

Please note, however, that immigration in some countries are not aware of this law and as a Pakistani you may get hassled because of that.

Re: Transit UK from/to US

Thank you all...

It means he is a permanent Resident ( a green card holder). There is no such thing as permanent VISA.

I dont know what are the rules, my friend from Pak on his first ever visit out of Pakistan, on his way to Canada, He asked the immigration officer at heathrow if he can 72 hour visa to see his friend in London, They agreed, changed his flight to next day and He phoned me up, He didnt have any visa for UK got it from Airport here. All he had was landing papers to Canada.

It was nice for him and i shown him around london for couple of days. and it was about 9 years ago.

and 911 happened 8 years ago.
