Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

Hey Lovelies!

Okay so one of my SIL’s last year got a A-line frock made out of her lehnga, and she was showing me and I thought it was a pretty good idea.

I was also thinking of doin somethin similar with mine as theres no other way I’m goin to get into that lehnga anymore, its around 6years old and short shirts were in then.

So I was wondering if someone here ca share their experience in transforming their wedding jora into something completly different, and how’d it work out?
Or any ideas on what to do and who could do it.

Thanks!

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

Are you in Pakistan? Best advice would be to give it to a skilled tailor in Pakistan. They will know how to stitch the shirt and lengha together in such a way that it looks like a frock. They will also know what needs to be added to give the perfect look. Could you ask your SIL to have it done by the same person she did hers by?

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

Mmm I dont have a wedding lengha, but I did this with a lengha I wore on my sisters wedding around 10 years ago. It came with a long jacket so I had a plain kamee and trousers made and wore the jacket on top :)

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

Yeah well I'm in the UK and my SIL sent me pics of her dress, I might be goin to Pak some time end of this yr, and wanted to do this with my lehnga.

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

I just want to be able to re- use my wedding lehnga, so that's y I thought of wearing it with a different look.

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

i thought people re-wore their dresses for their siblings' wedding and I thought that most ppl leave enough room to grow for that purpose. Am I wrong?

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

Of course, nothing wrong with that. I was just offering a different way to really put that lehnga to use, which over 90% of women never wear or use again.

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

guriya i wouldnt recommend that. I have noticed certain styles of wearing the lehnga which make it look like a sari. ill dredge up those pictures for you

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

please post pics!!

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

i dont think its a good idea unless you're having a very skilled tailor, why not just get a long shirt/frock and wear it with lehnga dupatta? long shirts wont be around forever so you might not need to transform it

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

Ya please do post pix of the kind of look your telling me about, I'd b interested to see any other ways of carrying my lehnga. Thnx x

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

Hey!
I like that idea of using the lehnga's dupatta with another dress. :) :) thnx

Re: Transforming your wedding lehnga to a dress?

Oh! I want to do this too... I had a lehnga made for my cousin's wedding and I want to get it made into a maxi or long dress.
