Transferring music from ipod to PC?

Is there any no-cost way of doing this? I know of a way through windows explorer by un-hiding folders and dragging music folder out to desired location.

But do you know if that works for sure? Or have you tried an alternative that does work?

I've always used WinAmp as my music player anyway. It's simple... you can connect any iPod up (no multiple syncing bullhockey like iTunes) and rip the music off there and put it onto your own machine... simples :D

^^ rip like copy or rip like record while playing it using stereo mix?

Rip = copy it from the iPod library onto your PC.

^I thought iPods had to be hacked or stuff to do that. I don't think they allowed it initially, they still don't support drag n' drop.
