Thanks for the update. I was not off by much then. My estimate was of around 150k for Couple + 2 kids in Karachi.

Experienced IT guys (8+ years of exp) in cities like Karachi, Lahore and IBS are making more than 150k in many cases. I have couple of cousins who finished IT degree 3 years ago from Karachi University and they are already making around 80k.

Finance guys and teachers (specially at private colleges/universities) are also making good money.

I am not sure about other fields though

Internet speed is not bad either, cloaking over 700K on Utorrent while watching Netflix on TV (through VPN) also two other laptops on same connection.
PTCL Broadband is comparable to Optimum in New York. I am a happy camper.

All PTCL Broadband packages are unlimited.
I have 4MB Connection at home, its rocking. The cost is 2000RS including PTCL SMART TV, not bad.

Since none of my family is in IT field in fact almost all of the immediate ones owns a business small or large that's another story that's why I dont have any clue about the pay scales, job market etc in Pakistan..This thread is very helpful for me thank you guys!

Mostly TPB.

I downloaded 170 movies in a week, all of them are uploaded to External HD connected to Airport Extreme Router - tv, ps3, ipad, iphone & laptops are sharing from single device its like having home video library.

p.s. over 300 movies are in the queue

I don’t download movies. I stream

But I download progs, books, other things I’m too cheap to pay for

300 movies?!?! I’ve probably watched 300 movies my entire life! LOL

i use to be rapidshare/megaupload guy but from couple of years .. Torrents, they are more hotter then the chicks ;)
..and being in Pak i am not afraid of MPAA, i am going to download whole hollywood hell ya...

Gotta love Pakistan. Downloading/stealing copyrighted material stateside must be a paranoia inducing experience. How bad is it over there? How often do people get prosecuted for using torrents(if they ever are)?

I don’t know how strictly they’re ‘watching’ but I know a guy who had his house ripped apart, both of his PCs were taken, his ipods, etc… and they didn’t stop there! They went to his mom’s hous (1 hour away), and took her computer too, because they found a convo of his mom telling him she enjoyed a movie he gave her.

Luckily they found nothing on his comps, but according to him, he’s on the “being watched” list.
