Re: Training Questions

Ok guys here goes

I am 5'8, 135lbs, 20 y/o.. I used to workout but on/off so not much there. I need to get BIG !!! What should I start off with? was thinking 3x week full body for 1-2 months and then breaking it down more to target specific muscles each day. Also, what should I be eating and how much? I try to eat 5-6 meals a day.

Re: Training Questions

hey bro...how you doing?...i think u were the one who opened thread regarding nostril blockage..just wanted to know have u consulted doc yet?...

ok now as of ur question... keep in mind ur goal.. and your goal is to get big. Common sense tells us that to get big, you need to eat big. To achieve your goals..you need to take in to consideration 3 things...ur workout pattern, ur eating habits and sleeping habits. Remember, you build muscles when you're out of gym...you only break ur muscles when ure working out...

As u mentioned...you try to eat 5/6 meals a day which is good.. your meals should mainly be a source of protein ,carbs and healthy fat. Remember, you need to gain weight the right way..and not want the weight that will take u forever to get rid of. Eat 5/6 meals consisting high protein.. that being said about ur diet... lets come to ur workout pattern... if you're seriously looking forward to get huge ...you need to start goin to gym 3/4 times a week, workout for an hour but very intensely. Theres no point of curling a 5/10lb of dumbells for 40/50 reps...we all know u cud do that...try lifting the amount of weight from which you cud barely do 10 reps....target specific muscles each day..not the whole body... you do that when u have atleast 1/2 years of experience...and if u've hit plateau. If you do as i say...u'll get what u want...

ps: u're 20 and just 135, thats underweight bro. you need to be atleast 150.. so just do as i said... and if u have problem with diet schedule..PM me and ill make up a diet that rich in protein ,carbs and healthy fat. Hope this helps mate.

Re: Training Questions

yes man got an appointment next week we'll see what she does.

thanks for the much needed info bro, one thing where does the protein and carbs lie in our pakistani khana?

also can you draw out a rough workout plan for those 3-4 days stating what muscles each day. i don't want to go for wrong combo of muscles and hurt myself.

thanks

Re: Training Questions

protein is everywhere my friend.. you dont have to adapt western diet to achieve ur goals... egg..milk..chicken..lamb..peanut butter...roti ( 6g of protein in normal size roti ).. u name it... fish, cheese, yogurt, beef etc. If you cannot meet the daily requirement of protein, i suggest u go ahead and buy yourself whey protein. It is simply derived from soy and is in powder form.. you simply mix it in water or any of ur favourite beverage and drink it up, that'll bring u a lot of protein.

workout plan for 3/4 days is as follows ( since u're beginner ) :

monday : chest, tricep ( do let me know if u wana know the logic behind working out chest with tricep and back with bicep )
tuesday : rest
wed : back, bicep
thursday: traps(neck muscles), delts ( shoulders )
friday : rest
saturday: squat and deadlifts ..for ur lower body
sunday : rest.

would not recommend you cardio as of now, since ur metabolism is very high.. and as ur goal is to gain weight. This is just a rough schedule. Hope it helps.

Re: Training Questions

Yes, protein shakes are very important part of the diet. They all vary in different shapes and sizes. For starters, most protein shake jars come in sizes of 2 1/2 pounds to a 5-pound jar, in different flavors. For getting big, there are certain ones that you can buy which will help you bulk up.

Drink about 50 grams of protein shake a half hour to 45 minutes before, and 50 grams after. One cannot survive on fish and lamb everyday. The benefit of a protein shake is that while it is low in carbs and fat, it is low in calories and delivers the punch in proteins which is essentially why it is so much needed.

Also, to get big, get creatine and glutamine in your muscles. They will help you push more at the gym. And as FrozenFire mentioned, it will help you in pumping more blood into your muscles which, in turn, you will utilize to lift more heavier weights.

Re: Training Questions

I don't really have anything further to add. I agree with pretty much what FrozenFire has said, however I would agree with you that for the first 1/2 months work on the full body and then move onto the specific muscles each session.

If you haven't trained for a while then spending an hour pushing yourself to the limit while just working on a couple of muscles during a session will be too much. You need to also go easy on the weights initially and then start increasing the weight as your body gets used to the weights.

Re: Training Questions

if you want to gain muscle mass and burn fat quickly I can not stress the importance of a diet high in protein...as mentioned by dhobi bhai and FF.

Also I concur...creatine and glutamine are also very good (mostly for men)...it gives you energy to work out and lift better. but for gaining...def proteins and also supplement all meals with a protein shakes.

Re: Training Questions

my question is that say f ur chubby n u use cardio machines alsot can u also use the weights or shall iwait till i lose the pounds n then toneup

Re: Training Questions

Zayma many people especially women think that they have to shed the fat before they start weight training. This notion is incorrect.

Lifting weights builds and tones musles. The more muscles you build the more fat you burn.

Re: Training Questions

oh really na i was thinking i need to lose it first then i should tone oh thanks for telling me!

Re: Training Questions

to burn fat more efficiently...I would do a combination of high impact cardio (if you dont have any medical conditions keeping you from doing so) and weight training.

Re: Training Questions

Absolutely, and this is from an experience as well. On the same lines what Angel Eyes mentioned, doing weights first and strength training for 15 minutes to a half hour before the cardio will do wonders. It will turn the sugar levels in your body to glucose. Once that conversion is done, when you start the cardio, the fat starts to trim down. The energy from the food that you eat before going to the gym is stored as potential sugar masses, and that is best for doing weights first before the cardio.

High impact cardio is a must. Do one machine but give it your all, and measure the percentage of your heart rate, and what category it falls in.

Re: Training Questions

^ dhobi_bhai app to kapray dho dho ker he work out ker laitay hoon gain :hehe:

Re: Training Questions

one thing u need to keep in mind is that you CANNOT do spot reduction. I've seen many girls doing just the crunches bcuz they're trying to shed some fat from the mid area... You cannot do that... it will be of no use to you. Your bodyfat % suppose to decrease in order for u to see changes. The only way u can do that is by doing cardio exercises... and a bit of weight training just to tone up ur body...because im sure you dont want loose skin here and there...

Re: Training Questions

You can tone up anytime and there is no harm in using weights as well, however if you want to look slim then you do need to do more cardio. Most of the chubby people that I see focus more on cardio initially.

Re: Training Questions

I would not recommend creatine to anyone who just started lifting... and even if they take creatine...they should take it as directed..and simply not how one takes protein shake. One need to drink plenty of water while taking creatine... creatine's main purpose is to add water weight.. it'll push water into muscles..and make the muscles appear larger... if u dont drink water u may develop kidney stones. So, i wouldnt recommend this supplement to a beginner..i would make him work his way up and then when he hit a plateau thats when you start taking supplements such as creatine.

Re: Training Questions

And I fully agree, such a supplement is absolutely not for first time users. Thanks for this, helpful tip as always.
