“Muhammad: The Last Prophet” Opening in Theatres

What’s Happening?:

The theatrical release of “Muhammad: The Last Prophet” – a new feature-length animated film produced by the creators of classics such as “The King and I” and “The Fox and the Hound.”

What is the film about?:

The movie is set about 1400 years ago, during the early years of Islam, and relates the events that unfolded that led to the rise of a renewed religion in the Arabian desert. The film aims to introduce the story of Islam and its Prophet to new generations. Key events are covered to present the main thrust of Muhammad’s message and the struggles early Muslims endured to protect that message and bring lasting change to Meccan society. Who produced the film?:

Badr International Corporation came up with the idea for an animated film about the Prophet Muhammad. The company recruited RichCrest Media to produce the film because of their established reputation in the field of animation, including such animated classics as “The King and I,” “The Fox and the Hound,” and “The Trumpet of the Swan.” The film’s musical score was created by Emmy award-winning composer William Kidd.

Why should you see this film?:

This film is both educational and entertaining! It introduces the main people and events that gave rise to the religion of Islam, the sister religion of the two Abrahamic faiths, Christianity and Judaism. This film is in an animated medium that is appealing and accessible to all ages, and can be an experience everyone can enjoy and share together.

Is the Prophet Muhammad depicted in the film?:

In Islam, representations of God and the prophets are prohibited. While the events surrounding the Prophet’s life will be highlighted, the Prophet himself is never seen or heard. His representation is dealt with through sound and cinematography. We experience his story through point of view shots and through other people’s interactions with him. In this sense, the film is similar to Mustapha Akkad’s 1976 live-action film, “The Message.”

Were Muslim scholars consulted in the making of the film?:

A first draft of the movie script was sent to the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, before production began. The movie was approved on October 16th, 2002 by the Al-Azhar’s Center for Islamic Research. The film was also approved by the Shi’ite Council of Lebanon. In North America, the producers formed a film consulting team that included scholars such as Dr. Khalid Abou El Fadl (UCLA), Ms. Firdosi Wharton-Ali (UCLA), Dr. John L. Esposito (Georgetown) and Dr. John S. Voll (Georgetown).

What is the movie rated?

Though the movie is not yet rated, it is suitable for a general audience.

Re: Trailer - Muhammad (S.A.W.) - The Animated Movie

This movie was released in US theaters last year in November. I remember, because I saw it, though the entire release was like invitation-only kinda thing with tickets costing much more than normal and no advertisement in theater halls etc.

It was also discussed on GUPSHUP at that time, in Shor Sharaba forum. Here is the link

And here is the link](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showpost.php?p=2912233&postcount=17)for my views on that movie.

Here is what I had posted earlier

=====

The movie itself was ok. They narrated the whole story from the early days of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) to the time time when he received the first revelation, then the life in Mekkah, hijrah, life in Medina, Ghazvas and finally Victory in Mekkah. The storyline was narrated in the words of a sahabi (not sure which one) who was telling it to a guest and a child.

No, they never showed the Prophet, or any of the khulafa-e-rashideen or even Hazrat Hamza (Peace be upon them all). Prophet never spoke directly, and the narrator would say something like “… to this, the prophet replied: …”, which was pretty neat. They only showed the bow of Hazrat Hamza and the sword of Hazrat Ali. They did show the characters of Abu Taalib, Abu Jahal, Abu Lahab, Abu Sufiyan, Khaled Bin Waleed, Bilal and a number of other sahaba.

The actual quality of the animation was very disappointing. Admittedly you can’t expect the quality of Shrek or Finding Nemo with these independent productions, but their quality was almost like Tom & Jerry of mid-80’s. Jerky motions and stale 2-D color animation.

I am also not sure what is the target audience for this movie. We had a bunch of kids in our group (several muslim families who went together), and any kid younger than 8-9 years old, was having trouble understanding the whole story, cz they are not familiar with all the characters. Plus a number of scenes showing torture to early muslims and war were a bit traumatic for young kids. On the other hand, anyone over 14-15 would lose interest quickly because of the quality of animation. Adults are only watching it to support a muslim movie or to show their kids what it is all about, because otherwise, in all honesty, “The Message” is a far more powerful and visually stimulating movie on the exact same topic, and covering the exact same events.

Such films should not be allowed. Does it contain any animation of our Master?
I will not watch the trailer incase it does.

Re: Trailer - Muhammad (S.A.W.) - The Animated Movie

excercise some caution when putting up statements like these…

a not-so-well-nformed person might be led into thinking that kuffaar like abu talib, abu jahal, abu lahab were sahaba…
do not group them together in one sentence…

Re: Trailer - Muhammad (S.A.W.) - The Animated Movie

excercise some caution when calling someone kaafir...don't include the father of Ameer ul Momineen (a.s.) with others in the list. the hadiths u will bring forward are weak so its not wise to call someone kafir based on weak hadiths.

i don't want to discuss this issue further. just an advice. thanks

Re: Trailer - Muhammad (S.A.W.) - The Animated Movie

^
neither do i wish to discuss it further, but facts dont change according to what u think....
a man who did not accept Islam remains a kaafir in my dictionary....
if u wish to call himself, feel free to do so....

Re: Trailer - Muhammad (S.A.W.) - The Animated Movie

Tou Rasullallah [saw] kaffar kay hath say kathay rahai yab wo yateem thay? Yeh bhee koi ajeeb sa kaffar ho gah jo Rasullallah say itnay pyar kartay thay. And Rasullallah [saw] didn't mind eating from the hands of a kaffar. :)

Tou kisee kaffar kay hath say khana sunnah hai?..

Re: Trailer - Muhammad (S.A.W.) - The Animated Movie

^
what nonsense....
kissi ka baap ya maa kaafir hai to kia us ke saath khaana nahin khaye ga????

or rasool-Allah (saw) ka woh qissa to suna hee ho ga aap ne jab aap ne aik yahoodi awrat ki daawat qabool ki thee....

hamza (ra) was also an uncle of the Prophet (saw) wh oloved him when he had not accepted Islam....
but on the Prophet;s insisting, he finally did accept it....
abu lahab did not accept and opposed the prophet....
abu talib did not oppose and did not accept Islam....
why is it so cnofusing????

Re: Trailer - Muhammad (S.A.W.) - The Animated Movie

Lets get back to the movie…

No it does not. This movie is “approved” by muslim scholars at Al-Azhar, or so I heard. It doesn’t have any animation of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) or any of the khulafa-e-Rashideen or Ahl-e-Bait (Peace be upon them all).

Re: Trailer - Muhammad (S.A.W.) - The Animated Movie

I am amazed at the statement by legbreakgoogly, calling Muhammed our master. Since when did Muhammed become your master? God is your master, calling Muhammed your master is idol worship. The state of 'muslims' is becoming more pathetic every day.
