DAWN.COM | Metropolitan | Seventeen die in Karachi ?targeted killings? during June
KARACHI: At least 17 people have been killed in the first week of June in Karachi. During the early hours of Sunday, a local leader of the MQM-Haqiqi became the latest victim, DawnNews reported.
According to police sources, gunmen barged into the house of Saleem Knight, head of the MQM-Haqiqi Lawyers’ Wing in Jamshed Town. Indiscriminate firing killed Saleem, while his wife and daughter received bullet injuries.
According to senior police officials, the MQM claims five of their activists, while Haqiqi claims ten of their workers have been targeted. Meanwhile, at least one worker of the PPP and the Shabab-i-Milli have also been killed.
Areas such as Landhi, Malir, Shah Faisal, Korangi, Lyari, and Jamshed Town have remained tense in the wake of this violence.
Police would not disclose who could be behind the murders but attributing political sources they claim varying reasons. MQM Haqiqi claims it is a backlash of an imminent release of Afaq Ahmed and Amir Khan.
The deputy convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Dr Farooq Sattar said that the MQM is being targeted for raising its voice against Talibanisation and the government should probe into these killings.

KARACHI: At least 10 political activists were killed on Sunday as a spree of targeted killings continued in different parts of the city.
Tension gripped parts of Malir, Landhi, Korangi and North Karachi where most of the killings took place.
The Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) claimed that seven of its workers had been killed by rivals.
Allegations and counter-allegations were levelled by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Haqiqi group.

Another Haqiqi worker, Mohammed Nauman, 28, was killed and his mother and brother Mohammed Zeeshan were injured when some men on a motorcycle opened fire on the taxi they were travelling in near Gulshan Qadri in Malir City. It looks like MQM is being targeted because of its hard stance against Taliban and Anti Social elements.
LOL, this is a fight between MQM and MQM-H
Nothing to do with the imaginary 'Talibanisation' of Karachi
Re: Trageted killing spree in Karachi claims 17 lives in June.
Shame on these thugs for trying to turn Karachi again into war zone. This will not benefit anyone.
it was expected to happen as MQM H was slowly encroaching into areas around Landhi and korangi and had its members taking over inner streets since last months.
it got in motion because of expected release of afaq ahmed or amir khan of MQM H on bail.
it is bound to get worse as days pass.
no taliban issue but a gang war...

Re: Trageted killing spree in Karachi claims 17 lives in June.
It looks like the implementation of slogan, "Jo Qaed ka ghaddar hai wo mot ka haqdar hai"
When terrorism started in swat everyone started screaming (rightly so). Now who is going to stand up against this terrorism?
Re: Trageted killing spree in Karachi claims 17 lives in June.
Everyone knows that the Haqqiqi was a group propped up by the ISI by interjecting SSP jihadis into it and by portraying the real MQM as a purely shia organization. Haqqiqi is feeling threatened by the collapse of their talib brethren in Swat and are lashing out at the nearest target.
Re: Trageted killing spree in Karachi claims 17 lives in June.
The purpose of putting every crime on MQM is to destabilize the current Sindh Government of Secular Parties in Sindh and Islamabad.
11 MQM workers shot dead in Karachi can MQM critics tell me who are killing MQM workers?

Please give a neutral source which is saying 11 MQM works were shot dead. Its the biggest drama. The modus operan-di in this scenario is, MQM always claims its "hamdard" are shot dead. These "hamdards" are actually innocent people who get caught during the firing. Since the relevant families are already scared, they dont deny any such report.

This is true. MQM always cry like this. Pehkay maaro aur phirr roana shurro kar dow. Same old tectics. A blind person can see that MQM is doing all the killings of MQM-H workers.
