Traffic Blues in the twin cities

With the ever increasing cars, traffics has been a real pain in major pakistani cities lately, particularly the twin cities because they were never this busy before. There were some very bold steps taken back in the mid-late 90s to increase the width of roads such as Murree Road. It was a miracle because anyone whose seen Murree Road can testify to all the plazas and businesses alongside Murree Road and how difficult it must be to demolish them, deal with money, stay orders etc. However, despite all the expansion, the leasing/financing of cars over the last 3-4 years has causes serious problems. It used to take me 5 minutes to get to the airport at all times from my house, and now its well over half an hour because no matter how wide the road is, the chowks/intersections are a complete mess. They would need underpasses/overpasses Recently they hired young trainees as traffic police wardens in certain cities and so far they are doing a great job. Even at 11pm at night you can see them standing there, wearing a gas mask and controlling the traffic manually in thier reflective yellow coats. I heard they are also being paid around 12-13K per month, and most of them are under 30. I hope they continue to work with this zeal as they are alleviating this massive problem. I heard in London they are now imposing some city traffic tax if you get into the main city before 6pm, I wonder something on that lines will keep unnecessary traffic outside of the congested areas.
