Traditional clothing

“Chi pao” is the traditional Chinese dress. I, personally, find it highly elegant and sophisticated. A friend of mine went to Hong Kong some time ago and got me one of them long dresses, which I love dearly.

(hope you can see the pics)

The fashion industry is slowly beginning to recognize the attire of other cultures. I’ve seen Pakistani fashion with a touch of this Chinese style. Even the western countries have now adapted the Chinese (and desi) styles in their dresses and tops. Not only dresses, but it’s also seen in shoes, bags, and other accessories.

Are there any other traditional dresses (or accessories) that are slowly emerging into the fashion world? Guppies, have you come across any distinctive fashion of the country you reside in? How about sharing some pictures or other information on that?

p.s. Mods, if this is better suited for the Image gallery (fashion), you can move it. (Not like you need my permission, but permission granted, nevertheless.) :-p

These look really good with pant style shalwars. A lot of these style pant/kameez' are being sold in London at the moment..... the same Chinese style dress ... only, it's up to the knees rather than full-length.

Ive been wanting to get one for some time too now. I bought this Pure Silk with an oriental sort of self-print on it and have been waiting for someone to take it back home and get it stitched… I have been waiting for a year and a half now :frowning: I also have this China Shanghai, the one with the Satin finish to it, that would look good too. But who to send them with? :konfused:

i have blue chinese style salwar kameez in silk and some red and black normal material chinese style salwar kameez :stuck_out_tongue: :nahnah:

Yep, u gotta love them!
I have one of those in black, bought it here in Holland like a year ago. It's very elegant :)

Over here arabic shoes were really 'in' around summer. They kinda look like khussay but they're more pointy. Just like khussay they come in bright colors with a lot of 'motiyaaN'. I tried searching for some pics but couldn't find any.

Femme, I don't know where you're located, but most places with a desi population have tailors that do can do custom designs. I gave someone my dress (the long one) and got a shalwar kameez made just like that. The short kameez and the pant style bottom.

Shinoo, I don't think I've ever seen those. If you find a pic, do post it. :-) I don't know about there, but they also have the Pakistani style 'chappal' fashion in the summer these days. Like the really traditional multi-coloured ones. I love those.

Mehnaz and uzzy, those are really elegant...especially in blue. I can never get enough of 'em.

Ok, now I'm beginning to think this actually does belong in Image 3. :-\

Horry caaw dressh sshooo naiche… ha much? 10 dorra? 20 dorra?

CB, that's a very elegant style. Mind you, it's pretty fashionable in Pakistani fashion too as kameez on top of straight pajama. Looks very nice.

:)

:hehe:

CB there is only one tailor I trust with my clothes and he is in Pakistan
:frowning: Don’t want to give it to an amatuer here and have it ruined.

remember the chinese fabric i showed you when we were downtown (the very last time :crying)… i made that into a short kameez and wore it with a gharara at my mamus wedding.. it looked really good
p.s)
