am i the only one happy about the news article " **A push to open up trade along the India-Pakistan border"

**it's something new and hopefully security will be at it's highest on the dedicated truck passage so the truck drivers don't suffer in their efforts to push for better relations between the two countries.

That was Nehru's personal promise, and he is long dead and gone. How about going back to the principles of the Shimla accord which was an official document signed by the PMs of the two countries ?

why doesn't the Pakistani government see the major advantages of trade with india, the benefits aren't just for india

We can't put the cart before the horse. Unless the trust deficit between the two countries is bridged, trade is difficult.

^ why not take initiative and set kashmiries free and stop demonizing pakistan's interests? that will be quantum leap really, will wipe away any and all trust deficits, strengthen ties, improve trade and economy? why not? if you/ your govt is so eager to have a good relationship and trade with pakistan, whats stopping them from doing this?

Don't think so. Unless the key issues like Kashmir & cross border terrorism are resolved, the trust deficit cannot be bridged. We can no longer afford to shove these issues under the rug.

i already addressed this issue in the raytheon thread, you can read my replies there. i have no control over what the indian government does or doesn't do, this is an online thread, us commenting back and forth really isn't going to make the lives of the residents(of all ethnicities(not just kashmiri) and religions) of j&k any easier.

trade between the two countries has already started, may god be with and protect those truck drivers(of both pakistan and india) that are risking their lives for a greater cause. a salute to the security forces(of both countries) that will be protecting the drivers on the dedicated truck passage.

ok so you are just letting out your frustration just like most of us do most of the time on online forums... no harm there

and just for your knowledge, its nothing new... i can remember this happening at least twice in recent years... once in the time of N$, and then again when mu$h decided to sell kashmir to india... though i'm not against trade, but its very clear that its short term, and can have no solid effect on the relations of two countries until india frees kashmir and stops demonizing pakistan everywhere... this can bring no long term trust between the two countries. i'm out.
