Tracking Cookies

Argh! Ok i am so tired of my comp lol. I downloaded Avg free version off net and gave my comp a scan and it is showing alot of tracking cookies…how the hell do i delete them or clean them. It doesnt even allow me to do that. Is there any other better anti virus software.

Re: Tracking Cookies

You can delete them from IE (Tools/Internet Options).

Re: Tracking Cookies

i did that but i dont know if that helps...arghh! so annoyed. btw its so weird that teh free version is only there 2 tell u what virsus u have lol it doesnt do anything 2 get rid of them...sad :(

Those cookies are there in your system. AVG just shows them to you so that you are aware. Don't worry about that. You can delete those cookies any time, either from your browser or from AVG. I am sure there is a clear/delete option when it shows you those cookies after the scan. Have a good look next time and don't worry unless it shows you any "infections/threats"

cookies and virus are two seperate things, don't confuse them. Cookies are not threatening.

Re: Tracking Cookies

You may also want to empty the temp folder every now and then because overtime it can compile so much useless data that you no longer need.

I would highly recommend this free utility, it does it all for you (browsing history/cookies, temp folder, etc.) Download CCleaner 2.20.920 - FileHippo.com

Some other useful software to have: http://www.paklinks.com/gs/computer-information-technology/303050-top-phishing-scams-malware-threats-week-some-tools.html

Re: Tracking Cookies

CCleaner is an excellent software, Teg.

There is a common misconception that cookies are harmful…this is actually not so true. Cookies only contain data, not programmed code i.e they cannot erase or read information from your PC. Cookies only allow for the tracking of what web pages have been visited, and usually do not contain personal info, however it has been known that some some sites have abused the personal identification aspect of cookies and have shared them…

Just make sure you regularly clear your cache, or enable the setting to automatically clear your private data via your web browser…

I’m not sure what the difference is between the AVG trial and full…but obviously the trial version must have some limitations …so it is important that you utlise the excellent freeware available on the net to keep your system secure…some other freeware i find to be useful are:

Utilise such utilities to make sure your system is clear of any nasties

Re: Tracking Cookies

thank you guys you all are so sweet :). yes, it only showed tracking cookies but no viruses. So i guess deleting the temp folder on regular basis would do the trick. Meanwhile i wl also try the ccleaner...

thank you all once again :).
