Re: Track sent emails
I was about to suggest this … it works if the user has “allowed to view ALL content of the email” .

Re: Track sent emails
You are right, if it is some random email from someone I know or some random person . I decline. But I had used it to track emails which I want to make sure is read and I need to follow through after they have read it for example an email to my lawyer or some business associate.
Re: Track sent emails
The insertion of a tiny graphic in an HTML formatted email is very unimposing. It works the same way as when you visit any website. The big difference is that a website, by nature, is open to the public. Emails are personal and require permission. E.g. most email clients block out various embedded elements, including graphics in an email, unless its specified for certain (approved) senders.
Google Analytics works on that website premise. A graphic is attached to a site (mostly invisible) and can track who came to your site from where and what were the various items they accessed for how long. If that same graphic gets blocked in the email then you don’t get any info. Gmail and Hotmail have the option of blocking out these elements.
