Today’s guest at the great Bill Moyers show was Sandra Steingarber. Spoke about toxic tresspasing - toxins entering our bloodstream w/o our consent.
She along with activists blocked an energy company from drilling to access salt caverns in NY state for storage of compressed hydrocarbon byproducts of tracking. The company has been granted the right to treat data on effects of this activity as proprietary- thus preventing scientists from having access to critical data.
Spoke about chemicals in weed killers that have altered the gender of frogs. And how the chemicals have increased various illnesses in children and adults alike.
The chemicals used in tracking apparently toxic. She had a vigorous exchange with a NY politician who was ignoring her letters. A secret health study was conducted to determine harmful effects of pumping hydrocarbons in salt caverns. Her request (turned into demands as she was ignored) to have the study results available to the public were ignored.
She coined a beautiful phrase. Was it awareness futility. The futility that one feels after taking pains to learn about the problem and solutions because the majority is not on board. She said the best way to overcome this feeling of futility is to do one’s part. Go the extra mile.
Test was done on new born babies’ umbilical cords.
They found 280 industrial chemicals in it.
230+ were cancer causing.
200+ were associated with birth defects etc..
That I remember from back of my head.
We are living in sphere where we have memories of things, and now we associate things based on their appearance with our memory of real stuff.
For example, we remember corn,soy to name a few, now we have things which look like them but they are not.
We eat them in almost every thing. Since all the sugar is extracted from that fake corn, and use in fast food + supper market grocery.
But guess what ?? animal on their free will DO NOT eat them.

Yesterday I was at a traffic signal which was red. We were heading into the highway, with sufficient distance provided to accelerate to desired speed. The light turned green. I gently started accelerating. The guy behind was going ballistic - he put pedal to the metal, and expected me to follow suit. Being conscious of need to drive in fuel efficient way, I did what I normally do. Pick up speed uniformly.
As we neared the highway, he accelerated like a rocket past me from my left, his car on the left of the left shoulder. Through the closed windows, the smell from the significantly increased emissions stormed inside our car. Immediately. After overtaking us, he took an exit and could be seen pressing the brakes ahead of a stop sign. What a waste of fuel.
We exchanged niceties. And I had to hear from the lady “why cant you be like other Indians?”
Indeed! There are about 10 lights from home to work. Parts at 35 pmh 40 mph 55 mph very short distance 1 mile at 70 mph. When I enter 70 mph portion I have to take exit (steep 270 deg turn) at recommended 25 mph. Most folks approach the exit at 75 mph and then Brake. Result? They slow down. Like a snail at the curve.
When I enter 70 mph highway, I give right turn signal for exit with one mile to go. And drive at 56 mph. Thus I give sufficient warning so nutjobs can overtake. With 200m to go I take foot off accelerator. And enter turn. At 47 mph. And accelerate thru the turn. Rather than braking.
If I see a green light with a Mile to go I know it is stale green. I put my hazard signal on. Take foot off accelerator. Nutjobs overtake me at high speed only to stop at ligh. as I approach light it has gone thru red back to green. I coast past the folks who are stopped at light.
Gets me to work faster than other drivers. With less fuel. There are days she. I never have to even touch the brake. And several when I never have to stop. Rolling friction < static friction.
If at intersection red I turn off engine if wait time > 45 sec.
Key is not to slow people down. Let them do their thing.
