Its interesting to note that the US stays silent on such matters but then criticizes the Pakistan army for alledged extra-judicial killings in SWAT.

Sad but not surprising. Although considering the US had its own issues in Iraq to contend with, I doubt they would do anything other then ignore the Indians. Still at least the US punished some of the people involved, India rewards those conducting such activity.
