I have this skin condition called melasma which I think I mentioned before, and my derm finally described something topical for it. the problem is that i pray 5 times a day, and am afraid of washing the treatment off 5 different times! but i have to pray..i don't know what to do..and if i don't use this...my condition will just get worse. :(. Please give suggestions.
Razea, Allah swt knows best, but i would agree with what PCG said, Allah swt looks at your intentions, and since this cream is for medical reasons, i think you should not wash it 5 different times, that’s going to be expensive and also might make the treatment less effective? You could do wuzu right before applying the cream and then you could do wuzu before each prayer but just leave that parts of your skin where the cream is and apply the cream as many times and for as long as what’s medically recommended for you. Don’t just apply it at night so that you can do wuzu 5 times. Taking care of your health is also your Islamic duty.
Allah swt has made so many concessions for us, like how prayer/wuzu requirements are relaxed during things like travel, and during certain medical conditions, so if I were in your place I’d just think that Allah swt knows my intention, knows I am trying my best within my limitations, trying to balance everything and doing the most I can. The most important thing is ofcourse that you continue to pray 5 times a day mashallah :k:
This was just my opinion though. There are some websites on the net though where you can contact aalims about their opinions as well. This one just came up on google: http://islamic-world.net/askscholar.htm
I’m sure there are others too which you can find on google.
In the end though I think Allah swt is Most Merciful and knows whats in our hearts…Good luck
Jazakhallah:flower1: Irem, thanks for all your advice, I’ll definitly take it inshAllah. Ill just do wudu on the parts of my face that don’t have the cream on them, and pray that my intentions come through inshAllah.
Hmm..i never even thought of that one! :smack: If a person fears that if he uses water his life will be endangered, or he will suffer from some ailment or physical defect, or the illness from which he is already suffering will be prolonged, or become acute or some complications may arise in its treatment, he should perform tayammum. However, if he can avoid the harm by using warm water, he should prepare warm water and do Wudhu, or Ghusl when it is necessary.
Can you hold your wudhu for atleast from asar to isha? That way you don't have to wash it five times, anyway.
Though I agree with others, that either do whatever feels right to you (its the intention that counts) or consult someone you trust who is knowledgable.
Faisal.. I could..but I feel guilty doing that..so I think ill go try the dust method for a lil bit. Yeah..I'm glad noone attacked me here tho..i know some people..they get all defensive and uptight.
and yes gabru i have common sense, i just happen to be absent minded at times.
