People believe that ’786′ is very important for Muslims.I know few peoples know the truth.
In Movies,TV serials shows,those have 786 in anything,they get help from Allah during problems.
Car No,Mobile No,Telephone No haveing ’786′ is sale in very high rate.
so,What is the Importance of ’786′ in ISLAM.

is 786 = ‘Bismillaah al-Rahmaan al-Raheem’.

Not all over the world. Only Muslims in the subcontinent believe 786 to have some sort of spiritual meaning. In the rest of the Muslim world the number has no significance.

Muslims in the sub-continent replaced Bismillahir reHmaan ir RaHeem with 786...thinking that if written in words it's disrespect to Allah's word if that piece of paper is thrown in the garbage or if someone steps on it...

...since all letters in Arabic/Urdu have a numerical value to them so what they did is they added all those numbers in Bismillah....raHeem and the total comes to 786.

in olden days, people used to write letters starting with "Bismillaah...." and those letters traveled through all clean and unclean environment and touched by paak N naapaak log etc...that was 'THEIR' reason...i do NOT believe in this practice though!

In the movie Deewar Amitabh got a sikka from a muslim coworker. It just struck me it was saath sau chiyasi (786). It saved his life when he was shot at by the bad guys.

it's just a myth...the numbering system has nothing to do with Islam.

i think in the movie Coolie, Amitabh wore his coolie badge numbered 786. didn't he?

Sorry - I may have had my movies mixed up. Pretty sure the sikka saved him in deewar cause parveen Babi and he were outside a hotel when shooting took place.

Yeah I know what song you are referring to. But chumma has different meaning. In this sentence it means free.

So if something is free, pick up 2 extra for your uncle.

Not true 786 comes from Abjad system and in turn numerology. It is not based in the subcontinent ... It was used all over the Muslim world. It was devised by early Muslims from their interactions with Greek number system. The actual isopsephy is the representation of numbers using letters and vice-versa. They carry the same meaning or weight ... Often azkaar and awraad are given to people according to their numerical weight by their Shuyukh ... found common amongst people of Tasuwwuf.
