Iv been at my mom’s place since a week after she was born..yesterday i had to come back home to visit my FIL and they asked me to stay for the night..now here everyone has the AC on..she is not used to it:( at mom’s place she was used to the fan at medium speed that too swaddled..I tried my best to cover her as much as possible while she was in the AC but she was being held by others( hubby and inlaws) without any care..i tried explaining it to them but no luck:hinna:
Sometimes they held her without her cap, without her receiving blanket and sometimes without her swaddling sheet:crying:
Even in our room, hubby switched on the AC during the night, thank God I had covered her good before we went to bed..now i think she is not feeling well..i can hear her breathe as in the type when we catch a cold..like a congestion..plus she was coughing while I was feeding her and even after that(shes asleep right now) i can hear her breathe with difficulty and she even has a bit of her mouth open:hayaa: will take her to the her paeds as soon as possible:naak:

I don't understand why people don't listen to the mothers!
They should always listen and next time throw a tantrum (not good advice I know) but be a fearsome mama bear and protect your child.
Hope she doesn't have cold but it might strengthen her immune system?
Re: :((((
Keep trying. Babies can overheat, btw.
Make sure there's a humidifier around.
Re: :((((
Sahr can u turn the AC air away from the baby or keep ur bedroom door open. Keep the baby's crib away from direct air of AC. Also.no fan.
And dont worry any kids gettinf sick while I was bf when jr got sick I increased juices and ate even more healthy so baby would get the nutrients.
Re: :((((
I understand where you are coming from but let me tell you, cold air/air conditioner doesn't cause cold. She probably got cold because too many people were touching her/holding her without washingbtheir hands first!
Re the ac.. Just like adults, babies are more comfortable in cool room than the hot n stuffy room...as long as she is wearing full sleeve and there is no air directly on her skin, she is fine..keep her covered but not wrapped all the time. And lastly, remember AC can cause allergies though but not cold.
Parenting is sooo much fun..isn't it? :D
Re: :((((
oh yah when I was born in Sri lanka the nurse wrapped me up so tight apparently that I cried all night because of the heat. The nurse said I was the worse.. lol
Anyway fast track a few dozen years I hate the heat I can't stand summer and I've lived mostly in south asia..
I wonder if theres a cure to this :(
double post
Re: :((((
3 items you must get immediately
1) Vaporizer -- to get rid of the congestion
2) Swaddle wrap -- to keep in law's germs away from the baby..
3) Sleep Sack ---- put your baby in it at night.... she is going to sleep peacefully and wont catch that cold....
I had to get the above almost immediately....was in a similar situation :D
Re: :((((
^^ Congrats nia! :))
Hey Automne hope u r doing well..she was mostly in my FIL’s room where AC plus two fans were on so i didnt have a choice to keep her away from it..
I was feeding her in another room without AC and u know how kids get a bit sweaty when they bf..as soon as she was done hubby took her in FIL’s room and she was just wearing a bodysuit and onepiece..nothing else not even a swaddling sheet:bummer: i was so pissed at hubby:smack:
And i ate healthy and bf as much as i could..alhamdolilah she is better now
Haha it is:hehe: i wonder what did our mothers do when there was no GS around:hmmm:
GTG im wondering if she has an allergy..this happens when she is in an airconditioned room..she gets better when she is out:konfused:
So i shouldnt wrap her much? What should she be wearing if she sleeps in an airconditioned room?

Hello Sahr,
I understand that new mothers are over-protective of their kids but even so, you should calm down a little.
Shouldn't you be happy that your inlaws are kind enough to be willing to hold and take care of your kid? and personally I think that it's nice that they have a/c since it is boiling in Karachi right now... as you said the baby is sweating with you bf her. What did your doctor say about the baby's cold?
You seem a little upset that you had to stay at your inlaws house instead of your parents house.
