بارہویں صدی میں بنائی گئی خانہ کعبہ کی چابی اٹھارہ اعشاریہ ایک ملین ڈالر میں فروخت ہوگئی ہے۔
اسلامی آرٹ کی لندن میں نیلامی کے دوران خانہ کعبہ کی چابی کی نیلامی سب سے مہنگے داموں فروخت ہوئی جسے ایک نامعلوم آدمی نے اٹھارہ اعشاریہ ایک ملین ڈالر میں خرید لیا۔
لندن میں سدبی نیلامی مرکز کے ایک ترجمان کے مطابق خانہ کعبہ کی چابی نے اسلامی آرٹ کی نیلامی کا ایک نیا ریکارڈ قائم کیا ہے۔
نیلام ہونے والی خانہ کعبہ کی چابی لوہے کی بنی ہے اور اس کی لمبائی پندرہ انچ ہے۔اس چابی پر کنندہ ہے کہ’ یہ اللہ کے گھر کے لیے خصوصی طور پر بنائی گئی ہے۔‘
خانہ کعبہ کی چابیاں بغداد میں عباسی خلیفوں کے پاس ہوتی تھیں اور انہیں خلیفہ کی طاقت کا ایک منبہ سمجھا جاتا تھا۔
لندن میں نیلام ہونے والی چابی خانہ کعبہ کی واحد ایسی چابی ہے جو کسی کی نجی ملکیت میں تھی۔اس کے علاوہ خانہ کعبہ کی اٹھاون چابیاں میوزیم میں موجود ہیں۔
لندن میں ہونے والی نیلامی میں اسلامی آرٹ کی نیلامی سے چالیس ملین ڈالر میں حاصل ہوئے۔خانہ کعبہ کی چابی سب سے زیادہ مالیت میں فروخت ہوئی ہے۔
اسلامک آرٹ ڈیپارٹمنٹ کے ایڈورڈ گبز نے کہا ہے کہ نیلامی سے حاصل ہونے والی رقم اسلامک ڈیپارٹمنٹ کی سالانہ آمدنی کے برابر ہے جس سے یہ اندازہ لگانا
مشکل نہیں ہے کہ اسلامی آرٹ کی دنیا میں کتنی ڈیمانڈ ہے۔

it says Khana-e-Kaa’ba has 98 keys. and this is the only one which some individual owned (they didnt mention who bought it …in fact they said “na-maloon” )
it is sold for (i think) 1.18 million dollars (record in selling any Islamic artifact), and it was made in 11 century.
A late 12th-century iron key to the Kaaba in Mecca sold for 9.2 million pounds ($18.1 million) with fees, about 20 times its estimated price, at Sotheby’s in London today.
The key to Islam’s most holy pilgrimage site had been estimated to sell for 400,000 pounds to 600,000 pounds. It was sold to an English-speaking agent in the room, who refused to give his name or that of his client. The hammer price, without the auction house premium, was 8.2 million pounds.
Sotheby’s said the sale raised a total of 21.5 million pounds with fees, which was a record for an Islamic-art sale by the auction house. Two-thirds of the 392 lots were sold.
Similar auctions of Islamic and Indian art by Christie’s International and Bonhams this week will also test demand from collectors as credit losses mount. Islamic and Indian art, with their historical and cultural connections, are traditionally regarded as a combined sale category by international auction houses.
A 14th-century gold and enamel belt buckle from Moorish Spain sold for 983,700 pounds after commission to a telephone bidder. It had been estimated to fetch more than 600,000 pounds.
According to Sotheby’s catalogue, the 10 centimeter-long buckle was one of only four recorded pieces of enameled gold surviving from Spain when Andalusia was ruled by the Arabs.
