The movie version of hitchhikers guide is coming out soon. I am excited, after reading all the books, hunting and finding the TV series, its movie time. I am hoping that they stay true to the spirit of the book.

The TV show has not aged very well..but it's cult classic stuff..I'm looking forward to it..btw I dunno if everyone will get the 42 comment lol..whens it coming out in the states btw?

Zakk who cares whether someone gets it or not, I bet son there will be bandwagon fans shoving quotes down everyone's throat anyways :) for now let them think that I made a typo and wanted to discuss 24 instead
The Tv show did not sge well but aside from the special effects and all the edgy approach is what I liked and from what i hear they have maintained that in the movie.

First reviews are mixed...but above average..yup DS there was a British TV series in the 80's...I'm looking forward to watching it on Thursday..I'll post a review on it ..Oh yeah I have made a personal tribute to it in my journal lol

the TV series will only appeal to fans of Hitchhikers guide, and at best is okay. you should be able to locate it at any stores offering brit sci fi stuff liek dr. who. or red dwarf.

In my view most movies do not do justice to the book, some exceptions are there but most screw em up trying to increase the mass market appeal.
I have heard mixed reviews as well, but then again, how many of the reviews are form the series fans and how many are from ppl who would not like the book if they read it.

MrF: agreed, movies dont do justice, they cant provide the level of detail a book does, plus a movie ends in an hour or so, that sucks.

Ok I saw the movie..first opinions..quality wise excellent..good effects characters are perfect for the role..it's a bit crammed in and I think close fans of the book will have some serious gripes..all in all 7 and a half out of 10.. it had some good laughs but lacked the extra sparkle to make it really good.
