Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

Along the same lines as the “US is spreading AIDS to muslims through the Polio vaccine” rumor, I though we should start a thread listing all of the ridiculous Anti-US rumors in the muslim world. The top three that come to mind for me are:

  1. The 9-11 attacks were carried out as part of a CIA/Zionist plot to start a war against Islam (purportedly to control the flow of oil we already control)
  2. Last year’s Tsunami was caused by an underground joint US/Indian/Zionist nuclear test
  3. The US (or the US army) knew the Tsunami was coming and deliberately chose not to warn muslim countries

what are some other good ones?

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

heres some that you might found out there..

  1. americans are self important and perennially obsessing over what the world thinks of them (while claiming they dont care :snooty: ) because while they realise that most countries around the world dislike them.. they still want to feel loved :frowning:
  2. when confronted with their negative image and its discordance with their overblown ego, they seek to find ways how that dislike could be undermined, for example taking issue with the fact that the French eat a lot of cheese, and painting the Muslim world’s opinions with the colour of the most ridiculous opinions they can find. sort of like psychological comfort food.
  3. their government rely on factory manufactured, feel good mantras to sell their political agendas and politically sanitized made-for-tv bloodshed wherever they deem that bloodshed necessary, dancing between tacitly accepting that they’re acting out of self interest and then pandering to the people and the grunts and the rest of the world selling themselves as altruistic forces for good, switching back and forth and back between money grubbing bloated international entrepeneur and ideologically driven megalomaniac so quickly everyone forgets who is what and how it all started :smack:

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

sometimes irony runs real deep around here - a pakistani telling an american most countries dislike his country. good god!

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

hey i can back myself up with figures, see the pew report. find a similar one by a similar authority on pakistan and then we'll talk :)

and america is easily the more disliked, if only for the simple reason that pakistan isnt such a significant global player. if.

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

well pakistan isnt important enough to have a report on. its just one of them countries with them men and their women that everyone dislikes.

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

A friend of mine in Peshawar was telling me after 9/11 about this ridiculous conspiracy theory he had ..he actually thought that the yanks would invade Iraq rather then stay around in Afghanistan and bag UBL..I told the guy ( not very well educated as he was..) c'mon why would any country attack somewhere else when they are so close to victory and getting the man who caused the 9/11 attacks ..and this friend turned and looked at me and said "it's not about UBL or 9/11..but those are good excuses to making the people of america support by War.. getting Iraqs oil and getting rid of someone who defied Bushs father "

Stu I am sure you will agree with me when I say that was one sad conspiracy theory..the guy even said it was a widely believed rumour in the Muslim world at the time!

I guess it's a good thing you yanks proved people like him wrong..

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

well till then i have basis for claiming that america is disliked, and you have opinion. which is sad given how sure you are about it :( .. too bad you cant substantiate..

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

"because while they realise that most countries around the world dislike"

Ahhh, visas, visas, visas. How many threads are there on gupshup about American visas? Sure, they hate us.

Stu, this is a great thread. But lets be realistic. The capacity to make up new conspiracies is way beyond one thread. Conspiracies get you off the hook. If there are hidden hands, powerful and omnipotent, then you have excuses for failure. Focus on success, and you don't need excuses.

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

1 might seem a rumor but it has a strong base , the others are genuine rumors @ stu

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

Stu,

Stop reading or subscribing Tabloid magazines,…you see now you are not making any sense at all here,..Many writers wrote senssational books on this theory in Europe and in other countries to make money,…Now you are intentionally or …getting along with those who just make spicy and sensational news,…only to sell their magazines and papers,..Are you one of those people here ???

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

haha.. i love that its so infuriating for you..

but dont worry, i dont hate all of you guys, pew dint ask me. good music for one.

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

all the america haters really want to come to the u.s, they are just jealous. and i have heard of people who would rather come to the u.s than go on hajj.

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

Since when did visas become a sign of love and affection? Business is business.

Wham, bam, thank you mam is more like it.

Re: Top Ridiculous Anti-US Rumors in the Muslim World

Point 3 is actually backed up by a bbc radio 4 interview where when the american was pushed about why he didn't tell the authorities in indonesia or he flatly said it wasn't my problem.

How about Europe? Greeks are angry at america over macedonia. They say macedonia is inside greece and alexander was born in greece so how is it that he has become a national symbol for the ex-yugoslav state which is now known as macedonia. Manufacturing nationalism?

Most of europe is angry because of the 'old europe' jibe from america when they didn't give any support.
