I have a young friend who wants to date. I need reasons to influence her not to.
What reasons can you think of.
Some background: she’s hot. she’s very smart - top notch student. she’s boycrazy.
And no, I will not be handing her phone number out to anyone. Just need some idea of how to go about handling the situation.

If she dates **any **guy she can perhaps end up ruining her reputation. Guys might not take her seriously or give her teh respect she deserves coz she's the "fooling around" type. She'll hurt her parents by sneaking around and lying about everything (assuming they don't know), her schoolwork will suffer and she may jeopardize her future. Worst of all, she can get her heart broken and lose her self respect.
There's lots of reasons, but she's 15 and boycrazy and there's really nothing that can stop that. Being an honor roll student doesnt automatically protect you against stupidity and stubbornness. Usually no amount of words will help you realize that something is wrong or a mistake, and usualy kids at that age are stubborn and need room to grow. That being said, tell her every reason u think it's not good for her to date, why its a bad idea, etc. and let her come to her own conclusions. If she still wants to date, well then that's her problem, not yours...

Everything reason I listed for not dating goes for non-desi guys as well. I specified desi guys in the first sentence because dating, even in a serious relationship, is still seen as wrong and shameful in our culture. For other ethnicities, dating casually or even randomly hooking up, is not really seen as "wrong"anymore. That being said, I personally believe dating/hooking up is wrong no matter what. This is how i see it, i could be wrong or right. I'm just offering my opinion here :)

Thanks for the clarification. I was just confused by your post that dating non-desi was an OK as you had created the distinction in your first sentence :)

This is what you do. You overflow her. Get guys to chase her around all the time. Get them to be their nice jerky selves. She'll hate men for the rest of her life.
I think there is no reason that you can logically give to a fifteen year old, besides those that'll just scare her. Like: "Hey, you know, if he holds your hand, you'll have a baby."
Other than that, the only thing I cna think of is to stress that it's not a part of our culture. Depending on whether by desi you mean Muslim or not, it's also not a part of our religion. In the end, like Sara said, it's her choice.
You can always try to distract her. Hey look, somin shiny!

I told her there is already a terrible rumor about her and her first boyfriend (when there is not). Her mind changed within 5 seconds.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that. When you get into the dating crowd, you're a lot more vulnerable. Depends if you're strong though.

Well that is really interesting. 16 & 15 are too young by modern standards. Atleast I wanted it when I was 22 and now plans to delay it till my phd
Keeping the girl away is indeed very difficult as she is a boycrazy. All u can do is to give some threats and try to make understand that is all too early.
