Top 3 things in dealing with In Laws

If you have to prioritize three qualities/things that are must for having a better relationship with In Laws, what would they be ?

You might explain a bit, your point of view. Like “Least expectations” is easier said than done. Hence, how would you advise one to convince oneself in lowering one’s expectations…etc.

p.s. Of course there are too many and prioritizing might not be appropriate, but you may mention the 3 things that immediately come to your mind when you think of *dealing *with In Laws.

The other 2 coming to my mind are:

3. Humbleness

1- emotional distance
2- respect
3- understanding that they aren’t family. ie your MIL is not your mother, your SIL is not your sister, and modifying expectations accordingly
