Top 10 reasons to Support Barack Obama

This blog posting is making the email rounds of muslims. I am sure many muslims are supporting it and are happily forwarding it all over. Thats fine. People have a right to support whatever.

I do believe that Obama is a very good speaker. Beyond that I am quite wary of everything else here. The best thing going for Obama is that he is not Bush and McCain is even scarier. Anyway…

My comments are in blue.

Top 10 Reasons to Support Barack Obama

  1. He is the only presidential candidate who voted against the war in Iraq, his foreign policy record shows he voted for bills that plan to end the war in Iraq, gradually withdrawing troops, engage in diplomacy with Iran not war. He is against torture/abuse of any kind of criminals whether at home or abroad.

He didn’t vote against jack. He was not even a Senator at that time. He made a speech opposing the war. Thats about it. Can he actually bring the troops home…? you wanna bet?

  1. His campaign did not take one penny from lobbyists or corporate interest groups

Oh well, we really don’t know that now, do we?

  1. Provide universal health care, nearly 47 million americans lack healthcare coverage, his health care plan helped 3 million children in the state of Illinois.

Yes, and who will pay for that? Correct, you and me. Can we cheer even louder!

  1. Obama has plans for our energy independence and creating more jobs from clean (clean fuel, alternative fuel) technology.

I have plans to go to moon. Three more cheers!

  1. Tax relief for the middle class by providing “making work pay” tax cut. Expand child & dependent care tax credit as well as expand the earned income tax credit (EIC), which he implemented in the state of Illinois that provided 100 million of tax cuts to families

By the definition provided to me, I am not “middle class” any more, so my taxes are going up. Dammit!

  1. Help small business succeed by cutting self employed tax, providing health care for those who has their own business, eliminate capital gain taxes for start-up business, expand loan programs for small businesses.

Cheers!

  1. Create universal mortgage credit which means more Americans will be able to afford to buy a home, for ex: his 10 percent credit will benefit an additional 10 million homeowners, the majority of whom earn less than $50,000 per year.

Some one some where pays for all this, I am sure. Is it us?

  1. Make math and science education a national priority. Improve our education in schools by providing K12 plan-incentives for good teachers, support college outreach programs, tax credit for college students & their families which will make going to community colleges absolutely tuition free.

As I said, I have plans to go to moon. Anyway, more cheers!

  1. Invest in sciences & technology: Obama will double federal funding of basic research & innovation.

Yes, double the funding. Money is aplenty. The huge federal surplus is just waiting to be invested.

  1. And lastly, he began a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America’s addiction to oil, he’s working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels.

Two different things. The first part of this giant claim appears to suggest an attack on rogue nuclear states (anyone say, Pakistan?), and the second is the best pipe dream this side of Atlantic.

Now more than ever, Barack Obama needs your help. The battle has just begun.

Show your support…

Re: Top 10 reasons to Support Barack Obama

he thinks
dosent take dictation

he feels like a normal human bieng

he is inteligent
not dumb like bush

Re: Top 10 reasons to Support Barack Obama

After his Pakistan comments, I will NEVER vote for him.

'nuff said.

although agreeing/disagreeing here does not mean I am for him or against him...

I just wanted to say... he's not dumb like bush..

and will you vote for Mccain who thinks it is ok for US to be on war for another 100 years?

Re: Top 10 reasons to Support Barack Obama

After Mush and his policies exit, bombing Pakistan will no longer be an option, it will be a requirement for either McCain or Obama.

That is a very sad statement ... You want Pakistan to be bombed? MashAllahSome patriot you are

Obama does not want to invate Pakistan! Here’s what Obama has said about Pakistan:

"As President, I would make the hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. military aid to Pakistan conditional, and I would make our conditions clear: Pakistan must make substantial progress in closing down the training camps, evicting foreign fighters, and preventing the Taliban from using Pakistan as a staging area for attacks in Afghanistan.

I understand that President Musharraf has his own challenges. But let me make this clear. There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an al Qaeda leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won’t act, we will.

And Pakistan needs more than F-16s to combat extremism. As the Pakistani government increases investment in secular education to counter radical madrasas, my Administration will increase America’s commitment. We must help Pakistan invest in the provinces along the Afghan border, so that the extremists’ program of hate is met with one of hope. And we must not turn a blind eye to elections that are neither free nor fair – our goal is not simply an ally in Pakistan, it is a democratic ally.

Beyond Pakistan, there is a core of terrorists – probably in the tens of thousands – who have made their choice to attack America. So the second step in my strategy will be to build our capacity and our partnerships to track down, capture or kill terrorists around the world, and to deny them the world’s most dangerous weapons."

Well then i suggest you start investing in a bunker because neither Bush nor Musharraf are gonna be around much longer.

Here are my reasons for supporting Obama, now that he has won the nomination:

  1. He believes in withdrawing or atleast phasing out troops from Iraq.

  2. Wants to have dialogue with everyone. Even those considered "enemies".

  3. Would like to change the situation at home on the economical fronts (again, tied with Iraq War because we're spending a lot over there)

  4. He's a politician. Not a businessman (Hint: Bush/Cheney)

  5. More likely to support a democratic Govt. in Pakistan, unlike Bush Administration which endorsed Ex-General Musharraf.

This just off the top of my head...will think of more.

Re: Top 10 reasons to Support Barack Obama

Re: Top 10 reasons to Support Barack Obama

i haven't done any in-depth search about his policies , but have an idea what key points he has been emphasizing upon . I would support him mainly b/c of his leniency towards iraq war which means less killing , less suffering ( both iraqis & americans) and more chances of tax payers money be used instead of going waste. Also agreed that economy + health care + education should be improved , i "genuinely like him " b/c he's self made who was once an ordinary/ common man , who strived hard all by himself to get there , where he's today ( even if he loose in the elections) , and also the fact his leadership skills shone throughout his life (being an active student in harvard , or when worked as lawyer , or when did community services or when he was in senate) , and yup i still can't get over the fact that HE'S A BLACK , WHO FIGHT AGAINST ALL ODDS AND HAS WON A NOMINATION.......wow.

woh kaisay ??

Re: Top 10 reasons to Support Barack Obama

What are his chances against McCain?

Re: Top 10 reasons to Support Barack Obama

yar did nt u hear him speak

Re: Top 10 reasons to Support Barack Obama

^^ I did, but i don't know if the white states are going to vote for black president... what my understanding is, that Lgically speaking this guy have an edge over all conventional candidates, he is promising change, thats exactly what is required, but i still don't know, how can he comeover the racism and these kind of stuff... unless the colored people unit and vote for him...

prime example is, with all the lies and funny stuff Clinton was coming up during her campaign, if the competitor would have been a white guy, then i don't think that she would have made this far.

I can be wrong, after all my obervations are from the media reports and analysis.

Top 10 Reasons to Support Barack Obama

*We must be as careful getting out of Iraq as we were careless getting in, but start leaving we must -Barack Obama, June 3rd 2008 *

*True, Obama didn't vote against the war as he wasn't a senator at the time, he was running to become a senator. So it's quiet telling of his his character and judgement that during his run to become a U.S. senator Obama spoke out against war in a climate that spoke out for the war. Below is what Obama said in 2002 before the Iraq war begun. *

I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.** -Barack Obama, October 2, 2002

Yes we would, it's all recorded.

Removing the tax cuts Bush gave on dividends and capital gains for those who make more than $250,000 as well as raising taxes on inheritances worth more than $7 million is how it would be paid for. I can live with that, and insuring those who can't afford it would certainly improve their productivity value.

*Good news, John F. Kennedy had a vision of landing on the moon. Less than 9 years later we were there, 2 years after that we were hitting t-shots off it. *
*U.S. Energy independence tackles the 3 biggest issues we face today, it would allow better foreign policy to be put in place, it would improve the economy, it would help the environment. Houston, we have liftoff. *

The U.S. and it's economic model has allowed you and your hardwork to reap financial rewards, time to give a little more back to it. :-)

Cheers mate!

And it's only for those who don't itemize their deductions. It's cost per year it less than half of what it cost for 1 month in Iraq.

As I pointed out earlier, we've already played golf on the moon almost 40 years ago . :-)

*The results achieved from investing into science/tech research and innovation easily pays 10 fold. *

**Secure does not equate to* attack*. Addiction to oil cripples the U.S. economy, U.S. foreign policy, and the global envirorment. Going to the moon was a pipe dream and it took less than 9 years to make that a reality. **

**America, this is our moment...I am absolutely certain that, generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless…this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal…this was the moment when we ended a war, and secured our nation, and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth.* -Barack Obama, June 3rd 2008 *

Obama wants to get out of current war zone and you are predicting that he will enter the new war zone?

im not even voting this time around. if i really had to, id vote mccain. any one but this langoor

yeah i wanna know too , which of these 2 competitors is hard to beat ??
