What make you decide on your toothpastes? Is it because of its gel/powder/paste form? or is there specific ingredient one looks for in the toothpaste?
Re: Toothpastes
I have always used sensodyne sensitive because mom used it and also mom was told by her dentist to use it so its in the family, however my sisters use dentonic toothpaste.
Re: Toothpastes
^ but you never tried to find out why everyone and your doc recommended that paste?
Re: Toothpastes
I think if it is suggested by the dentists federation and also the dentist suggested to mom then something would be good about the paste i guess. Which one do you use?
Re: Toothpastes
^ Yes, I know something good must be there no wonder dentist recommended. But can't you ask your dentist WHY is he recommending tht paste?
Re: Toothpastes
Well because i take good care of my teeth, i do not need to go to the dentist often. However i can google something about sensodyne toothpaste and tell you. Next time i go to the dentist i will ask her why she recommended sensodyne. And what about you?
Re: Toothpastes
yaay crest whitening with mouth wash ![]()
i used this other one, with tiny breath mint strips in it. now that was all wooo
though i felt it kinda scrubbed my teeth =/
Re: Toothpastes
Lois, my dentist recommends toothpastes with no harsh abrasives. Currently I am using something given to me by my dentist at my last appointment. It's great for sensitivities and hardens the enamel.
Good thread. I recall an earlier post specifically on toothpastes which is also a good reference tool.
Lois Lane brought up the question of what kind of criteria one might use to pick out certain toothpastes. Besides from seeing a toothpaste running in the family, I would also like to know what to look for when picking out different brands of toothpastes (part of it suggested in the link above).
In the meantime, Sensodyne vs. Crest vs. Colgate wars continue among the general consumers.

You should visit your dentist once a year at least. Even people who brush 2-3 times a day, floss daily and use mouthwash need to see their dentist!!
