They name Atlantic hurricanes alternatively between male and female names. For the complete list click here

well, i heard on tv, that the hurricane is named after the first person who detected it? Like the first meteorologist who spotted the hurricane-in-the-making.

^ From what I know, you can contact the national hurricane center in the US, and with some money, have a hurricane named after your loved one or yourself. Like you can give that to someone as a gift. I think its a certificate that says that a hurricane has been named after you. They have the names in line, and they go by alphabetical order when naming the hurricanes, alternating boy - girl. Depends on where you are in the line that determines which hurricane will get named after you.
