Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

If yes, what would you change about the entire outfit?

Also I’m not having a tradition ruksati, just a mosque nikkah and a walima.

The dress will be with a churidar pajama.

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

Omg that dress is gorgeous! Where are you getting it from?
If I were you, I'd change the colour of the outfit since i know I'm wearing red on my Rukhsati. Maybe a lighter colour instead of red?

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

try some pastel colors for the dress.

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

Zainab Chottani :D

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

What pastel colours would you suggest?

My walima dress is a very pastel peach and ferozi colour btw ...

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

its beautiful as-is and not too over the top at all!
since this will be your actual wedding day, i think the colours are perfect. love the jewellery too!

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

than you should go with this :) no bride ever looks over the top ;) its your day and im sure you'll look stunning inshAllah :)

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

Thank you! :)

Oh and as 'somegrooveychick' said, if this is your main wedding day and you aren't having a separate rukhsati, then the outfit is gorgeous as it is! (masha'Allah)

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

Thanks! I LOVE IT, but I didn't want it to be to over the top and all awkward at the masjid.

I guess I just needed strangers to tell me that! Sometimes it's more believable instead of a relative or friend saying "it's not too over the op at all" lol ...

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

^ lol
i get that!

but we're also fabulous. come on, admit it, that's why you asked, right? ;)

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

Okay fine, I admit it!! That's why I asked! :p

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

BeautifulSunshine, I think the outfit and jewellery are perfect.

Btw, I'm interested in knowing your setup. I'm assuming you're keeping things simple m'A. Where will your guests be eating etc?

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

Thanks! :)

For the dinner I'm thinking of booking an entire restaurant, but I'm not sure yet. I don't want the whole thing to turn tacky. We haven't invited many people to the actual nikkah, just immediate family (siblings, cousins), a few close family friends and some of mine and his friends ...

  • Nikkah at the mosque
  • Photoshoot
  • Dinner at a restaurant
  • Done

If you have any other idea/experiences, do share them! =)

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

It is BEAUTIFUL...

As mentioned above since it is your actual wedding day, definitely go for that look.

I've seen brides entering/leaving our local masjid in all kinds of outfits. Some choose to have a huge white/cream coloured dupatta covering them, and after nikkah they take it off.

if you don't mind asking, where are you located that you are having such a wedding It is very refreshing to hear .

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

Thanks!

I live in Scandinavia. I just felt like weddings have become a way to show off or save face (we have to this and that, or else people will talk and look down upon us) in our community, so I HAD to do the exact opposite, luckily my parents where on board with very little persuasion :D

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

Not OTT at all. I love it.
On the contrary - I wouldn't want you to go to simple.
Afterall, you are still a dhulhan :)

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

agreed....it's beautiful!!!
not OTT at all.
we shouldn't downplay our happiness because we are deciding to bring our imaan into it.....I believe that respect is due but we should shed the whole concept that one must remain sombre at a place of worship.
Allah wants his banday to be happy.

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?

Sounds perfect, masha'Allah. It's so refreshing to hear that there are still people who wish to keep things simple. I'd love to do the same, but unfortunately, my parents aren't as supporting of the idea. Best of luck to you; I hope Allah fills your marriage with lots of barakah. Ameen :)

Re: Too over the top for a Mosque nikkah?
