Thirteen stewardesses took legal action after they were deemed too fat to fly and were grounded by Indian Airlines.
Their lawyer Arvind Sharma said a court had ruled that the airline would have to pay out the wages the women lost.
However, Indian Airlines has filed a petition that will be heard in court on Monday and could overturn the verdict.
The legal wrangle dates back to the start of 2006 when Indian Airlines introduced a system of measuring air hostesses based on their height and weight.
PIA needs to make sure that the whole crew fulfills all the responsibilities of good customer service. Being fat bothers but not as much as being rude does
Well, it doesn't mention how fat these women are but I can understand where it can become a problem, you know blocking the aisle. Though I am glad they are taking legal action ... which shows faith in the indian legal system?! I guess the Indians haven't fired a judge lately.
maybe we should implement a similar process on passengers
well said
Once I was travelling from Singapore to Lahore via Singapore Airlines which is the best airlines ever in my opinion. All the passengers were Pakistanis - they gave such a hard time to stewards. it was terrible.
^ If it blocks the aisle, noone cares how “pretty” it is
Ok so I’ve been flying PIA almost every year since I was 5 years old and I have never seen the rude/ugly/mean passengers/stewardesses that everyone keeps talking about here. Maybe the stewardesses don’t look like freakin britney spears or are old, but if they’re there to freakin wait on u hand and foot, why the heck we xpect em to look like models?
