Tony Blair's History

Finally, Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair, the right hand of the Devil has resigned after being toppled in a coup de’ etat in 2006 by Gordon Brown. The new Prime Minister who has breathing and mouth problems is on his way to the Queen’s Palace for her blessings and the handover of power.

Can we expect anything at all to be changed in Britain’s foreign policy by the new unelected Prime Minister?

^nope

Re: Tony Blair’s History

A detailed analysis can be found here. I’ll summarise below

Mr. Brown is known to be pro-American, though considered less pro-American than Mr. Blair.

Mr Brown supported all current British foreign involvements, including Iraq and Afghanistan

Mr Brown has advocated tougher anti-terrorism laws than Mr Blair wanted

Mr Brown supports the current UK policy on Iran

Mr Brown has much less interest in getting involved in the Israel/Palestine dispute than Mr. Blair did.

Mr Brown favours sanctions against Sudan over Darfur

Mr Brown supports increased British aid to poor countries within the Commonwealth.

==================================

In short, very little will change. Mr Brown and Mr Blair have generally been quite closely aligned with each other on foreign policy.

Re: Tony Blair's History

What happen with the guy who was really against Muslims in UK, some politician who went after Veil issue in UK and wanted ASIANs in UK to be more assimilating in UK, wasnt he suppose to be next UK PM??

Re: Tony Blair's History

^ He was demoted to some none entity a while back. He werent too happy with it, but thankfully we dont hear much of him these days.

Re: Tony Blair's History

Jack Straw, he's called. MP of Blackburn.

Surprisingly a third of Blackburn's people are Muslims (many Hindustani Muslims and known to be very strict Muslims), overwhelming majority of whome also voted for Jack Straw.

Re: Tony Blair's History

^^ dangs:D coz i know (well i am sure i know) few people in Blackburn and they exactly the type this guy didnt like.I Think this guy got voted in for that place as the non asians of that area wanted him in....so is that like as desi town as Bradford??
If you can, can you tell me what other cities in UK can be labled exculsively as indian, Bdesi and Pakistani populated cities like
Bradford= Pakistani, Mirpuri
LOndon= ??
Leeds=???
Birmingham==??

the only place in UK that i have been outside London was a town called Peterbrough, i was visiting a friend from my village and when i went around the town couple of old pakistani uncle's stopped me and asked me about my Dad and rest of the family...i was surprised and my friend told me that dont be surprise as majority of pakistani families in this town are from our village and he showed me a street, where according him, i can walk in every house and there will be someone whome ihave never seen but that person will know my whole family, name by name.....kindaa crazy it was, wasnt it.

Re: Tony Blair's History

Oldham is full of Azad Kashmiris (especially from my ancestral village of Palyala). It was also the centre of race riots in 2000.

Nelson in Lancashire is full of Pakistani Gujratis and the town next to it known as Brierfield has the highest number of Pakistani Christains in the UK.

Lancashire's Burnley area of Duke Bar is full of Bangalis and Pakistani Pathans. (Due to Pathan culture, few stabbings involving family fueds have also occured in the past there).
