Tone and Content while preaching

Normally, when you want to convey your thoughts / opinion you should be convincing and with tone attracting people to listen to you and understand reasoning.

Do you think that this is followed in proper way by people specially Tablighi Jama’at?

Do they know their audience and their needs?

Have they understood the complicated matters and are competent enough to counter argue the point of view of their audience?

Re: Tone and Content while preaching

I like Tablighi Jamat because they focus on the people who are already on "their side" ... They don't do much cross-madhab debating ... and for that reason their approach is different.

Up until recently Sufis were also very inward but because of the Salafi fitnah over recent years say increasingly over the last 20 years our Shuyukh have started to equip us with material that allows us to defend ourselves against the apparently strong arguments presented by the Salafis.

Tablighi Jamat will use emotion, guilt and urgency to shock us back in to a state that drives motivation to worship ... their focus tends to be "coming to the mosque" ... which is a good focus. They avoid name calling and do not speak about other groups while in their circles. I feel the group is aimed at the layman especially the person who is either very farigh (free) unemployed, or rich businessmen who can afford to take time off while their employees handle their business matters.

I've never been free enough to attend - and since I joined the Shadhiliyya I have not needed to attend as we have our own activities. Tablighi jamat focus on nasihah rather than dawah also - however, the middle east factions are quite strong in their dawah too.

Giving dawah in general should really be given to those who are seeking it out ...

If they are not seeking it out - it is best just to be kind to them.

But if they are seeking it out then the response should be well constructed ...

Provide background, context, method, reference, reflection and leave it with them. Most of the time people do not alter their beliefs based on what you say to them - unless you are very blessed.

It is better to give a passive dawah using conduct and attributing all good to that ideal set of principles.

Re: Tone and Content while preaching

.
Its again tolerance thing which is unfortunately not followed in our society, be it politicians, tableeghi jama’ats, students, or any debates.
People get rude specially religious ppl n youtube is full of such content n manazra vidz

I always try first to prove it from Holy Quran when it comes to Islamic debate

Lets see what Allaah :subhanahu: ordered Rasools n how He wanted them to preach His Deen
( n off course it shud b followed by all of us too )

Holy Quran
Allaah :subhanahu: ordered Musa :allaih: n Haroon :allaih:

اذْهَبَا إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ
“Go, both of you, to Pharaoh, for he has indeed transgressed all bounds”
Taha: Verse 43

فَقُولَا لَهُ قَوْلًا لَيِّنًا لَعَلَّهُ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَىٰ
“But speak to him mildly; perchance he may take warning or fear (Allah).”
Taha: Verse 44

This order given to both Rasools was for the pharaoh, who said :

فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ
Saying, “I am your Lord, Most High”
An-Naziat: Verse 24

Now imagine, Pharaoh was the one who said " I am your Lord, Most High "
And Allaah ordering Moosa :allaih: to speak mildly while preaching, Subhaan Allaah !

This is the best example for “what type of content n tone shud b used while preaching”

Re: Tone and Content while preaching

So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him]. (159) al i imran
