tomato puree

take five tablespoons of tomato paste/puree per day for anti ageing of the skin less wrinkles, reverse the efeects of aging!

i think it works.

BBC NEWS | Health | Tomato dishes ‘may protect skin’

the antioxidant lycopene was behind the benefit.

i eat mine with salt and pepper, or soy sauce. or left over daal, or u can make tomato soup.

it must be puree not whole tomatoes, as the body gets a lot more lycopene from the crushed tomatoes.

firms the skin and protects against uv rays

Re: tomato puree

5 TABLEspoons sounds rather excessive, I wonder if it was a typo and they meant 5 teaspoons.

Desi's, stuff your curries full of tomato puree and you should get your quota for the day.

Re: tomato puree

^ Same here! I make fresh desi salaans daily and use my own home-made tomato puree. So I must be getting my daily dose! Hehe! :)

Thanks for sharing the info' Nadeem!

5 tablespoons im afraid.

You looking for a easy way huh, making them tea spoons.

Re: tomato puree

^ Then perhaps we can make that 5 LEVEL tablespoons. I'm sure they said 55g, so that can't be so much,

Anyhow, 55g is how much they gave to the test cases, which does NOT necessarily that you need 55g, you could still have good effects from a lesser dosage (say 5 TEASpoons!)

Re: tomato puree

I've heard about the benefits of tomatoes. In fact I have heard that mashing them and using them as a face mask also makes skin tight and blemish free.

Re: tomato puree

^ Interesting! :)

How would you make the stick on your face though? Mashed tomatoes are pretty runny.

Re: tomato puree

well you could add corn flour to the mashed tomatoes! ha ha! just kidding...

Re: tomato puree

^^ I think you just created a new recipe LOL

Re: tomato puree

Iggle, how do you make tomato puree? I tried a few times , turned out incredibly awful

Recipe for plain tomato puree.

I put about 2 kg of red tomatoes in a pressure cooker with a little bit of water.
Give 2-3 mins pressure. Allow to cool.
Blend to a smooth, thick puree.
Strain in a big, metal colander, which removes all the skin and seeds. Voila!

I have lots of little plastic containers (Woolworths, UK 99p!) and I fill them with the puree I made. Then I freeze them! E.g I defrost two containers for one salaan.

Hope that makes sence! :)

You can make tomato sauce afterwards by seasoning them with pepper, salt, onions, olive oil etc for pasta etc.
