i usually make (kachay) tamatar ki chutney. i have heard there is a version with cooked tomatoes. does anyone have a recipe?
Re: tomato chutney
My MIL taught me this timater ki chutney that is eaten at breakfast with parathas and it's yummy:
4 large tomatoes chopped
1/2 med onion sliced
6-7 curry leaves
2 green chillies chopped
bunch of cilantro chopped
1 tbs chopped ginger
salt, red chilli powder, 1 tsp mustard seeds
Fry onions until transparent. Add all ingredients except cilantro and chillies. Cook on low until tomatoes are cooked and oil separates. Add cilantro and green chillies.

That's how I make mine too, just substituting fresh for chopped canned toms, and minus the ginger. It's lovely with kitchri, and spread on toast.

We make it the same way but with finely chopped garlic and a tablespoon of tomato paste as well (for the pretty color).
