Overripe tomatoes were hurled in a massive red food fight today in the town of Bunol, Spain. The La Tomatina festival – held each year on the last Wednesday of August – evolved from a** street fight in the 1940s** when a group of young men who wanted to participate in the “gigantes y cabezudos” parade used tomatoes from a vegetable stand as weapons. An estimated 22,000 people showed up this year for the food fight.

I strongly oppose and loath food wastage, it’s a personal pet peeve. I live by this rule. So according that rule, this festival is ridiculous in my eyes.
There is nothing wrong with kite flying, the reason why people die from kite flying is because our corrupt and incompetent government cannot be bothered to impose a strict and regulated ban on the dangerous lines that are responsible for deaths and the dreadful injuries you hear about in Basant.

I don't seem to like any Spanish festivals. This is a food waster while during the bull chasing festivals I'm usually hoping they gore someone.
