We as community are priviliged to have people from so many different schools of thought participating here and also many who do not consider themselves affiliated to any group.
I would like to take this oppurtunity to ask you people, how does your school of thought promote religious tolerance.
What does religious tolerance mean to you, and how do you think it can be applied?
Good topic..All sects despite differences between Sunni's and Shia's should be able to tolerate each other. Obviously there are bound to be differences between the 2, as well as inner sects like your 5(?) madhabs and our Ithna Ashhari and Akhbari but we should not create fitna..We still have the same Prophet (saw) and the same book..Sometimes it does seem impossible though to like actually come at a point in the middle and agree.
Our Prophet (saww) said: Consider every man your brother, for either he is your brother in faith or a brother in humanity.
Even the closest of brothers have different views, opinions, and taste. But the key is to utilise these differences in a positive manner and try to learn from eachother. The more challenging part is to wage continous Jihad against against the nagative things such as hate, enviousness, jealousy, etc from coming between yourself and your brother.
