May I ask why do you want to make tofu at home when it’s very easily available in stores?
Re: Tofu’s recipe needed
Here is a simple recipe that I found:
You can even go crazy and make your own soy milk for it, lol. I am surprised at how similar it is to making cheese. Only difference is the use of soy milk instead of cow’s milk.
I am from Pakistan and here its only bean curd cans available which do not taste like FRESH tofu
Thanks but you tube is banned in pakistan ![]()
Re: Tofu’s recipe needed
I transcribed the recipe below for you.
Ingredients:
2 ltrs Soy milk
1 cup water
3 tbs vinegar or lemon juice
Heat milk in large pot on low- medium heat until just before it boils (80 degrees Celsius).
Combine water & vinegar/lemon juice in separate bowl
Once milk reaches 80 degrees, add half the water/acid mixture to the milk & slowly stir until combined.
Then add the other half of the water/acid (I don’t know why they did it this way, you could probably just add it all at once), & slowly stir (not vigorously, stir very gently).
Continue slowly stirring to prevent milk from burning but slow enough to allow the curd to form. Once the solids have formed throughout the mixture (It will seem like small white solid specs, not like big curds), strain it through cheesecloth. The solids are very fine, so other cloths may not work.
When most of the liquid has drained off & you see mostly solids left in the cloth, fold over the cloth to wrap the solid curd & put something heavy to weigh it down to drain off any remaining liquid from the curd.
Store in fridge for 1-2 weeks in a sealed container with tofu immersed in cold water.
Cut up into desired shapes and use however you want.
