So I’ve decided to add tofu to my diet and replace one meal that contains meat 2-3 times a week.
Tofu is usually edible and often times is tasty when I buy it from a restaurant. But to really reap the health benefits from eating tofu I’d like to make it at home.
So far, the only way I can make it taste good is by adding it to soups. Tofu soaks up the flavor from soups giving it a not so bland taste. I do not get the same results from adding it to a stir fry or grilling it with veggies.
Any suggestions on how to add some flavor to tofu? please post some recipes as well. thanks in advance.
so basically anything with a liquid-gravy like base would add flavor to tofu?
^ yes. so does soy sauce. you're welcome :)
for an example, i use tofu + broccoli + peanuts/cashnew nut + corn in a chicken broth sauce thickened with cornstarch. also, i always add red chilli sauce to it to give it a kick.
gina and bebo…but paneer just tastes soooo much better
tofu is def a better much healthier alternative tho. so tell me how do you make it. any specific recipes you care to share?
redvelvet…thats sounds tasty. have you tried that recipe yourself or are you using me as your guinea pig?
will try it as well.

To be honest, I haven’t tried making that recipe, but I have eaten spicy tofu stir-fry and it’s lovely.
I also made a tofu gravy one day. I just made a regular gravy…the kind you make for chicken curry/karahi…and then I added the tofu cubes to the curry after squeezing out the water from them. I thought it was okay…my brother seemed to like it more.
i remember seeing someone make channa masala with tofu on a cooking show once. maybe, you should try that. and i haven't had a tofu smoothie but i'd recommend adding honey to it.
^ i just saw a recipe for the channa masala. Im kinda afraid to try the tofu smoothie recipe. sounds weird. Will give it a try if i can work up the courage to do so lol
Today I am going to try spinach with tofu. I am gonna add spices as I go along...no recipe :D
keep posting people. I know there are more tofu eaters out there.
ok so i made the spinach with tofu for lunch and ate it without any bread/roti or rice.
Wasnt bad.
I fried the tofu in a little olive oil on high heat. Then added ginger/garlic paste, hunan red chili sauce, and soy sauce. then added the spinach and mixed it all in.
will try another recipe in a few days.
p.s. i just read on the tofu package that a 1inch slice of tofu has 7 grams of protein in it…thats like 7 grams of protein per bite!
