Neha, you are thinking too much about it .. honestly, I don’t know why people had made that hype about TOEFL and all those things.
I remember when i was there to take tests, there were 3 other takers as well and they were taking it 2nd or 3rd time and all the time they were like 60 and 70. I duno why .. .. well i know why .. but .. still ! .. Okay lets get back to business .. for your guidelines ..
1: Don’t get Panic .. consider as if you are talking to some normal person and you gona answer him
2: most of the topics will be like your daily things. Leme share some (those i can remember were asked by me)
your first gift to your mom. WHY and WHEN
Which place do you like to visit, a recreation park or historical place. WHY
Your friend want to buy a bicycle in summer. What would you SUGGEST
now, look at the Caps words. these are the important things.
As i told you earlier. its not important that you speak for “all” the given time. What is important that you cover all the aspects in a question. Let say first question. When you explain your first gift to your mom what you gotta explain
What was that gift.
Why you picked that gift
When did you give that gift
My answer was something like this. I got a perfume for my mom when i got my first salary. It was really an amazing day for me since after 16 years of her struggle for me is finally being paid off. (i don’t remember exactly, but it was something like that .. )
There was a girl who were sitting next to me. The funny thing was that she used to repeat “compete question” before the answer while recording. So, at least 10-15 seconds of her answer was consumed in recording the question, which is not right.
Secondly, lots of “emm” .. “aaa” .. i.e. pauses are not right. Try to be fluent. It does not mean that you have to speed up like native speakers.
FYI: if you are applying for some international university. Then you can avoid taking TOEFL/IELTS. All you gotta do is to take a Bonafied Certificate from your university. In pakistan, the medium of instruction in ALL university is English and it is written on their Bonafied letter.
All International universities state that you gotta proof your language proficiency if your native language is not english AND you have not been into english medium of instruction for more than 2 years.
