Toddler Hayfever

How can I help my bubz with hayfever?

She’s fine during the day, when she has her two hour nap, she is completely fine, but at night.. the poor thing has real breathing issues and in her sleep (with eyes closed) she’s like “nose.. nose.. nose..”

so lastnight i rubbed a lil bit of bear rub (similar to vicks vapour rub) on her, but after 5 hours, the poor thing was having the same issues again

i have a feeling she may have a similar issue to what hubz had, sinus issues.. but im no too sure..

meanwhile, any ideas on how to get her a goodnights sleep?

Re: Toddler Hayfever

take her to the doc, perhaps?

Re: Toddler Hayfever

^ yes. That's a brilliant idea.

I just wanted to know whether anyone else's kid suffers from this.

Thanks:)

Re: Toddler Hayfever

Yes, sadzzz, my older one had these symptoms when she was younger. What the doctor asked me to do was to elevate her bed at an angle so she isn't lying flat. That way she will not have the congestion blocking her breathing. Also, before bed, give her a warm bath in a Vapor Bath product such as Johnson's Vapor bath or any drugstore brand. If she has an infection, she will be given an antiobiotic. She doesn't get too many of these now.

Thanks Niksik

Thing is, she doesnt have a runny nose or anything. But she is always picking her nose (and eating it.. gross) but at night time she has huge issues with her nose. I will try putting vapour rub in her bath tonight and see what happens.. I just hate seeing the poor thing so irritated.

Thanks again

Re: Toddler Hayfever

She probably has a congestion. And that's why she has trouble breathing.

Re: Toddler Hayfever

You can try a vaporizer, some of them even have a little cup that you put vicks vapor rub into. Air conditioners and air purifiers are really good too, they filter the air. This helped my son's classmate alot and he has really bad allergy/asthma.

Re: Toddler Hayfever

sadzz i am not expert at all but could you maybe try a humidifier in her room on at all times to build up some moisture? I realise you guys have the opposite weather so you arent heating your place but its worth a try.

Re: Toddler Hayfever

^ yeah. I am going to try this as well. We usually put an air purifier in her room so clean the air a lil and she gets a really good nights sleep that way... lastnight she sort of slept better than the previous night.. so im happy about that. I had given her a bath with vapour rub..
