^ Yes I do...god as per my interpretation is not a whiny lad who needs constant attention and or a despotic tyrant who needs constant prostration. He gave me a brain...he did his job. It is his responsibility in conjuction with my capabilities to make sure that his creation lives life to the fullest.
Sadz- lovely poem! Every line seems to be spoken by a true seeker of faith!:)
Fatehahmad - what purpose do you think God created us for? I would be interested to hear your thoughts on that...
Does living life to the fullest automatically preclude an obligation to our creator? Would God favor a serious, morose, pious, adhering firmly to scripture type of person over one who lives life according to his/her ideals and not according to a book?

i had this huge paragraph written… but aaagh it just disappeared
Karina and Matsui,
I believe in Holy Quran and would like to put forward some excerpts from a book, which truely describes my idea about the purpose of life. Please read through:

Though different people, on account of their shortsightedness or lack of courage, appoint various types of objectives for their lives and stop short at worldly purposes and desires, yet the purpose that God Almighty has specified in His Holy Word is: I have created jinn and men so that they should worship me . According to this verse the true purpose of human life is the worship and understanding of God Almighty and devotion to Him. It is obvious that it is not open to man that he should himself appoint the purpose of his life by his own authority inasmuch as man does not arrive in the world of his own will, nor will he depart from this world of his own will. He is a created being and He Who created him and bestowed upon him better and higher faculties than those bestowed upon other animates, has appointed a purpose for his life. Whether anyone comprehends that purpose or not, without doubt the purpose of man's creation is the worship and understanding of God Almighty and to lose himself in Him
We offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they refused to undertake it and were afraid of it. But man undertook it. Indeed he is capable of forcing himself to obey, disregardful of consequences. This means that the Divine Trust, by which are meant the love of God and complete obedience to Him, was offered to the angels and the whole of creation and the mountains, all apparently full of strength, but they all refused to undertake it, being afraid of its grandeur. But man undertook it for he possessed two qualities, that he could force himself in the cause of God Almighty and could advance so far in love of Him as to forget altogether everything else
The real purpose of all the external and internal limbs and faculties that have been bestowed on man is understanding and worship and love of God. That is why, despite a thousand occupations, man does not find his true well being except in God Almighty. Having acquired great wealth, or achieved high office, or having become a great merchant, or having acquired governing authority, or become a great philosopher, he departs in the end from these worldly involvements with a sense of frustration. His heart rebukes him all the time about his deep concern with the world and his conscience never approves his wiles and deceits and wrongful actions. This problem can be appreciated in another way. The purpose of the creation of a thing is determined by its highest achievement beyond which its faculties cannot rise. For instance, the highest a bullock is capable of is ploughing, or irrigation, or transportation, and therefore these are the purpose of its life and it cannot rise above them. But when we take stock of man's faculties and powers to discover his highest capacity, we find that he is invested with the faculty of seeking after God so much so that he desires that he should become so devoted to God's love that he should have nothing of his own and that everything should become God's. He shares his natural needs like food and drink and rest with other animates, and in industry some animals are ahead of him; for instance, the bees produce such excellent honey from every type of flower that man has so far not been able to compete with them. It is clear, therefore, that the highest capacity of man is meeting with God Almighty and thus the true purpose of his life is that the window of his heart should open towards God.

Thanks fatehahmad, I read it...^
It bears a startling resemblence to Hinduism's exhortions to love and obey and exalt God. My question to you is: did God create us solely for the purpose of exalting him for no other reason than that he wants to be praised by his creations, or for some other non-egotistical reason? My intelligence tells me it is the latter, but too many people seem to believe it is the former.
Worship of God can never be bad, but is it done to gain spiritual and mental strength- so as to live life to the fullest - or out of fear of some hellfire that will consume us if we are lax in our duty towards our creator?

**I have only created Jinns and HUMANS, that they may serve Me. **
—Az-Zariyat (The Winds that Scatter) [51:56]
No doubt Allah is most Merciful and most Forgiving but He is also just and therefore severe in punishment to those who deserve it such as the disbelievers and those who disobey Him.
This life is a test for the hereafter.
If a teacher supervising an examination catches a student cheating and thinks to himself “I’m merciful I’ll let the kid carry on and cheat” that would be unjust to the rest of the students who have studied hard for that exam, and from then on no one will study and everyone will pass with flying colours by cheating.
If Allah didn’t punish people then this world will be hell to live in, people will do as they please, follow their whims and desires, e.g. marrying unlimited number of times, treating women unjustly, burying their baby daughters alive, adultery, fornication, burning widows alive, treating ‘untouchables’ unjustly and cannibalism etc.
If Allah allowed everyone to enter Paradise, believers, sinners, disbelievers alike then no one would obey Him or live a decent life.
Allah is not in need of our worship or obedience because He is As-Samad, we need to obey Him for our own good in this life and the hereafter. It doesn’t harm Allah in anyway if we disobey Him or disbelieve.
The doors of Allah’s mercy and forgiveness are open to all Brahmin and Shudra, Black and White, Jew and Gentile, Arab and Non-Arab alike.
Muhammad (sallallaho alaihe wassallam), the Prophet of Mercy was sent to all the people.
If sinful Muslims and disbelievers who have rejected His guidance were to repent and accept the guidance and do rightful good deeds then Insha’Allah He will forgive them and bless them with a happy and content life in this world and salvation, paradise and best of all His divine Deedaar in the hereafter.
That was just divine. ![]()

beautifuly said.. JazakAllah..
you guys mind giving credit to the one who recited these Surah's. I'd like to know who it is.... even though I'm a big fan of Sudais.
Just want to mention that today's Surah Al-Alaq, #96 has 'sajda tilawat' (last verse). So don't forget to offer sajda.
