Today's mainstream columns

re: today’s mainstream columns…Imran Khan parh saktay ho to parho!

This desire to see a ‘khuni ehtesaab’ of tax evaders just doesn’t go away. Through the nineties, the PPP government tried its best to get Sharifs on these charges. (and Sharifs did the same to PPP folks). Then in the early 2000s, Pervaiz Musharraf tried even harder. Either they didn’t do anything, or they were really good at and we couldn’t gather enough proofs to make a case in a court. You state that you have some special proof. Unless we are talking about execution without a proper trial, what more are we going to do that Musharraf and Bibi didn’t try? Let go of this fascination..

His little brother got people killed.

I think you meant to say “Chief Minister” of Punjab. Because he’s running Punjab in that role and not as Nawaz Sharif’s brother. It’s a fair argument that Punjab CM mishandled the Model Town situation. Fair to go to court against him, or even protest in Punjab. What does that have to do with wrapping up the whole system?

We have proof they rigged election.

Accusing is not the same as proving. The tribunals have found local irregularities on all sides. The Supreme Court panel can investigate whether there was a large scale rigging and you can present your proofs there. I hope they are better proofs than claims we have heard about that can’t even be called cirumstantial evidence. Why did he make a speech at 11 p.m. A whole media group was against us. All ROs, and judges were against us (really!!)
