Today's America, and its future

You’re all aware of the financial situation that is effecting America and the world as a whole. However, i have concerns about the financial trend that is being played out in America specifically. A countless number of mergers have come about in the recent days, along with the passage of massive aid from the Govt.

So, in the light of all that has happened. I ask you, what is the American future? China has been more than willing to lend money to USA and USA has been more than willing to accept that loan. This ofcourse is in addition to the debt that USA owed China in the past 8 years. A Japanese firm has recently take over Lehman Brothers.

Is America being sold out piece by piece? If that is the case, what implications can or will it have on the American policies in the future, if any? Is the foothold of Chinese financial assistance likely to influence foreign policy?

Please share your thoughts, and elaborate as much as possible on the scenario.

Thanks as always for participating.

the scenario can play out so many different ways it's hard to tell. The last 8 years have been a disaster almost across the board for the U.S. and the years it takes to repair the damage will allow countries like China, Brazil, UAE, and others to step up and become bigger players much faster than they would have. At the same time undoubtedly a new crisis will pop up and negatively effect those countries so no one can predict exactly what will emerge.

The 80's gave us a Japan that bought the Rockefeller Center and Columbia Pictures and we're reminded again that in a global market when one falters expect another one from across the street or across the globe to swoop down like a vulture and grab what it can.

I believe the irresponsibility of the last 8 years will be ending soon and confidence will begin to be restored as broad changes across the board are implemented. But most importantly the U.S. must refocus on innovation which will led it to being the leader and epicenter of energy technology which is key to keep it's dominating position.

Don't worry Obama will win and he will bring the 'change' and everything will be all right.

reading from the latest msn article, US is headed for a deep recession worse than early '90s, 80s, '73

another question is that is american military adventurism and dominance sustainable?

Re: Today's America, and its future

US is heading towards a deep depression, worse then 1928 depression when conservatively 7 million people died. Even though in 1928, 90% US population was living on rural lands and they were self sufficient. Now 90% living in urban area totally dependent on supermarkets. The country is going to hell in a hand basket. God help us.

Re: Today’s America, and its future

^ that depends on who is elected President…recession vs depression…Obama vs Mc Cain :hinna:

Obama is not Ali Baba or umro ayyar ki zanjeel ke khul ja samsam :rotfl:

PS What about obama’s plan for adventure in the black hole called afghanistan?

Re: Today’s America, and its future

Wow, I hate to know what the rest of the world is going to go through if this is going to happen to the country with the most productive workers in the world, the country with the top ranked universites in the world, and the country where 50% of the food harvest isn't used. Clearly tinfoil is in no short supply. Recession; yes, Depression; highly unlikely.

Re: Today's America, and its future

^ Most productive? Wouldn't that be Japan where their education is much tougher than the US?

If america has such a huge lead then why was OBama worried about china and india and their education system in the last debate?

Leading doesn’t mean others aren’t catching up, the U.S. is slipping in science and math, that’s both a national secuity issue and economic issue.

Re: Today's America, and its future

^ But most productive status didn't stop companies from outsourcing elsewhere? All they care about is extra $$$ no matter the cost???

It depends who we elect as our next president

either way however the next few years are going to be tough for not only
americans but poor countries around the world that America provides aid to.
depression if McCain gets elected beause of his idiotic obsession with Iraq ,also known as one of the biggest mistakes in history.
