Today my 4 year old nephew asked me

“why doesn’t Allah Miyaan come and help people when there is a problem on earth.”

I thought the questiong was really cute but I had no answer for him. How should have I answered?

Re: Today my 4 year old nephew asked me

I think one answer would be that Allah gave people the means to help themselves. They were blessed with free will and also blessed with a brain so if there is a problem, people CAN help each other and that makes Allah happy. They can also see a problem and ignore it but that isnt what Allah wants us to do.

Some of these words are hard for a 4-year old to understand but i think this is prob the best sort of answer.

Re: Today my 4 year old nephew asked me

Not the best answer but for a 4-years old, I probably would've said that Allah does help people by sending angels. It's just that humans cannot see Angels nor Allah.

But for someone else, I was going to say what MO3 has said: Allah has given us the means, it's up to us to utilize them.

Re: Today my 4 year old nephew asked me

^ So Allah has given a system of "cause and effect". e.g, work hard towards a goal and Some effect will take place. There are no exceptions? (aka miracles?)

Re: Today my 4 year old nephew asked me

There are "miracles", but there are also reasons behind it. Miracles used to happen with prophets (i.e. voice from the fire), I haven't seen any happening with people of this day and age. We THINK something was caused by miracle, but if we look closely, there is still cause and effect behind it. And when you connect the missing links, EVERYTHING, EVERY cause and effect takes us to Allah.

Re: Today my 4 year old nephew asked me

^ Then why pray to Allah if it is all just "cause and effect".

P.S: I wanna know your point of view, because you think along same lines as me. Once you are done xplaining, I will tell you my (unique) understanding of this matter :)

Re: Today my 4 year old nephew asked me

Sure, I don't mind discussing......and let me just say this, I am not a very religious person, so I may not have much to offer from that perspective.

Why pray to Allah if it's just cause and effect? As I said, everything goes back to Allah. He's the one behind those causes and effects. He can't (well he can but he chooses not to) directly do stuff for us without us working for it. I guess that's his way of being fair because he rewards those that work. Also, that's his way of teaching us lessons and strengthening our belief in him.

Pick any big miracle, creation of a child in mother's womb, how it goes through different stages, starting with liquid and becomes a solid living being with bones and meat. Take the miracle of Quran. If Allah wanted, he could've simply written down a book and send it via an angel but he didn't do that. He revealed different verses at different times to teach people when the time was right.

He has done his part by providing us the means, we have to do our part by working to utilize those means (and of course by praying to thank him).

Not sure if I made much sense, but would like to hear your understanding regarding this matter.
