Aug. 27, 2006 : The world’s oldest woman died on this day of complications caused by pneumonia. Maria Esther de Capovilla was 116 years old and lived in Guayaquil, Colombia. She was generally in good health and her death was unexpected. Maria Esther de Capovilla had five children, eleven grand children, twenty great-grand children, and two great-great grandchildren.
