This is to draw attention of relevant authorities towards the play “TOBA TAK SINGH” under the umberalla of AJHOKA, managed & operated by Madeeha Gauhar.

The play was put up in the two week festival held recently in Lahore.

It was created in the backdrop of 1947 creation of Pakistan.

First, the term “Batwara” was used again & again. Kindly note, batwara is of one entity. The interchangeable term for batwara is “Partition”, a phrase I oppose with every fibre of my being.

My research called Investigative Historical Research spread over two decades shows that there have existed in Sindh Valley, now Pakistan, distinct races, with their own culture, script, language & it’s dialects that never were a part of India. therefore residents of sindh Valley are a distinct entity in themselves. This opposes the theory of oneness of India propogated as the Mahabharta Epic as expounded by Nehru to suit the hindu brahmin.

Unfortunately, there exists in Pakistan, a group subscribing not only to this theory but using all tools available at their disposal to distort the minds of the younger generation. A generation that has lost touch with it’s roots & not in a reading habit thus bringing the very creation of Pakistan in question in their immature minds!

Coming back to the play, it is a series of incidents, inneudoes and creation of situations based on the thesis that with no dissimilarity with the culture of India, why the line of geographical boundary?

The young gullible mind, already filled with the indian movies & programmes through dish & cable culture immediatly associates itself with this mindset.

However, we as nationalists need to ask ourselves the legacy we are creating for our children and next generations to come. Do we want to create doubts in minds of our new generation about the very creation of Pakistan? For it’s a well known fact that if you manage to win the minds of your opponents, there is no need to win physical victory. If we do not wish this to happen, what are plays like TOBA TEK SINGH and it’s propogators doing in our country?

Re: TOBA TAK SINGH

In 1968-69, PTV-K launched a series by the name of MANTORAMA whih had our S.M.Saleem (marhoom) as MANTO. **
**The series presented a drama based on Manto's writings each week.

It was the most successful series of PTV-K.

*I have the honor to have acted in three of the series. *

To understand MANTO is like understanding BYRON or D.H.Lawrence.

I need not say more here...........

Re: TOBA TAK SINGH

Incidently the story is about a mentally unwell sikh guy during the time of partition.. See the synopsis here

Discussion about the great writer Sadat Hasan Manto.

And a witty piece of satire "letter to Chacha Sam " written by the same person some half a century ago by him, still very relevent.

Re: TOBA TAK SINGH

what? no dissimalrties with the culture of India or Hindus? the dissimarties are in abundance. from the places of worship to food (i.e. the cow issue) to clothes everything is different. who came up with this subject for this play that we share simalrties cultural wise with india? must be some stupid and ignorent bunch taking clutural cues from bollywood movies and soaps.
