To those who wore hijab before marriage..

Did you let your husband-to-be see your hair before nikah?

What were your reasons (you think hair colour, style should make no real difference, you believe Islamically you can’t etc)?

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

no,neither I let him,nor he asked for it !

reason : that was not allowed islamically.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

No I didn't simply because we weren't married.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

Err i did. But thats cos he's already seen pics of me without hijab. And because he wanted to see and I didn't mind cos only he would see it anyways. I'm not trying to justify it cos obv islamically its' wrong, but I only showed him a couple of times.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

^Actually, contrary to the popular belief for the purpose of marriage if the guy requests it the girl CAN show her hair.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

^ Huh? I thought he is only allowed to see her face, hands and feet. :konfused:

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

I personally don't feel comfortable with the idea either BUT I recently heard a lecture and that's what was mentioned. I always thought that it was only face, hands and feet as well.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

you raise good question. islamically, guy and gal should look each other so if they find attraction can proceed further, but i m not sure about hair.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

I'd just like to point out, that before a non-hijabi and a guy gets married, there's not really an issue raised of the girl being told to wear a hijab so he can't see her hair. It really does depend on whether you decide to follow islamic rules or cultural. Its not as black and white as that, fair enough, but I still think it's really up to the girl to decide

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

I wouldn't.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

i did. it didn't really matter to me. he would come over at our place and my parents would be around, so i felt comfortable enough. when we went out i would cover it though.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

Hmmm... I wasn't aware of that..

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

Maybe I shouldn't have said it like that because I have only heard it from one scholar.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

if you can party n date...why not show hair? wats so 'wronger' in that??

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

who said you can party and date?

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

In front of him or in a party?

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

I have heard the same. If the intention is to marry then it's allowed for a woman to show her potential husband her hair. But this should all take place with presence of a third person and not alone.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

ya bcose if the guy see your hair when your alone together he could get distracted by your beauty and try and touch you or something.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

It's just not about hair..before marriage the potential couple should meet but with someone else too in the same room. They can communicate. get to know each other and share views etc.

Re: To those who wore hijab before marriage..

that sorta guy would need a leash i guess..
