We often notice that people are quick to judge others based on actions or mere hearsay. There are many examples of that behavior. But i’d like to bring your attention to one aspect of life in a muslim nation that draws most criticism, often at the cost of insufficient self-analysis, and that is Weddings and one’s lifestyle.
We have seen people condemning the lavish life style of the leaders of Pakistan and other muslim nations, while the poor increase in number. What inspired me to open this thread was the comparison of the Two Presidents of neighbor countries and how one’s son was married lavishly in President house, while the other counterpart was shown in humility and a humble setting for what seems to be just a casual gathering, rather than the “typical” wedding ceremony. Quite contrary to one another, and a major difference in lifestyles as well.
So, my question to you is: Were you in the position of either, what lifestyle would you have adopted? (Honesty requested) Had you been the offspring of a leader of a nation, in which manner would you get married? Would you object to be a lavish wedding? Would you break the norms of society and rituals that resemble nothing Islamic, and choose to be the one that gets married in a simple manner even if it angers your closest relatives? As well as adopt a simplistic lifestyle?
There is no wrong answer. Each answer is correct for each person, providing there is a fair enough explanation for it. Please share, either your personal experience (if you’re wedded), or your choice if you are to be married soon.
*Mods: I’m not sure if this thread is best suited for here, please move it at your discretion. Thank you. *
on my wedding i would invite all family and friends and spend food etc
but not on fancy stuff like clothes and jewelery and big functions and special photo shoots
I would go for a simple Islamic kind of wedding even if i were the daughter of the president.
I have had arguments about the lavish/Islamic wedding with mum & i said No Way do i want a lavish wedding since there is more blessing in simplicity.

The major difference in lifestyles is because of the spiritual upbringing ..
The dissimilarity between both lifestyle is same as the unlikeness between ‘khilafaat ‘ and ‘ Malukiat ‘ ...
One is waiting for an Imam to revive the doctrine of khilafaat while the other side seems to disregard the real message of Islam ..
How would you act/live/behave given the opportunity to be the child of a President or any other person that has the means to provide a lavish lifestyle?

Same as I do thesedays .. down to earth and simple ...
I tell you , I was nineteen when my father passed away .. That day I had two hundred thousand rupees in my pocket. But as his time was up therefore all the king ‘s horses and all the king’s money didn’t save him ..
Since that day .. Money and living a lavish life doesn’t matter to me much ...

MashaAllah. It's great to think like that and one should always maintain that discipline.
i do not think i would want a lavish wedding. it is ostentatious and distasteful.Plus there is no barkat in the union emerging from it if you end up breaking hearts of other people.Although it is very hard to imagine myself as bilawal zardari, what a head spin :rotato:
