Basic question is that, Which Idealogy? and Why you want to keep it alive? Now if you can provide well-reasoned answers to these questions to your self, then emotions will surely emerge, and a desire to keep the idealogy alive will flourish and will motivate you.
But does this mean that you need emotions to keep the idealogy alive? Might be, but we surely need good reasons to make ourselves convinced that idealogy(whatever it is) needs to be kept alive. So in a way we don't really need emotions, we actually need good reasons, and when we are convinced, emotions are naturally there, thats how we behave.
