Re: To farshi or not to farshi...
as a guest, probably a traditional gharara would be a better option. farshi could be ok too, so long as the bottom is plain-ish, with the kaam concentrating on the kamiz only. pearls on that colour scheme can be pulled off for sure.
^ no no, if you have kaam on the knee, you have a traditional gharara, and i wouldnt do a lambi kameez. it will just look awkward. i would do a regular shirt, not front open, and it would end about 2" above the knee.
gina, i was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure if it would work with the colors i've chosen and/or if it would look too much considering i'm not the bride! the colors would be a darker purple kameez, silvery-grey gharara, and then magenta piping on the gharara top and bottom, and probably a magenta dupatta. will that look odd with a darker shirt and a light bottom? it seems more balanced in a regular gharara.
A darker kameez that's 'heavy' and a lighter gharara will elongate u're torso and look really nice. The piping could be of the same color of jamavar that u have in mind for u're kameez.
to farshi!
Re: To farshi or not to farshi...
Well....Farshi gharara in my opinion works well for brides, if it's ur brother's wedding....keep the fact in mind that you'd have to run around a lot in it...gharar will be great but with slightly less ghather and not that long :)
I loved the ideas of pearls on it and loved the pix too :) Good Luck!
gasp gorgeous! Par, send me close up's of that kaam stat! haha channelling a bit of hubby there for ya :p
hahahaha.. i'll email them over to ya.
Re: To farshi or not to farshi…
im shorthighted, around 5.1-5.2. would a long shirt with a farshi gharara or a lehnga look good? do u have anymore pictures.. and with or without a front slit in the shirt?
i would love to see what ur outfit turns out to be ‘somegroovychick’!
Re: To farshi or not to farshi...
thats a lehenga with a long shirt, i.e. the skirt is one piece. in a farshi, instead of it being a skirt, the bottom would be split in two like really wide legged pants. otherwise it does look like a farshi in that the gote is in the right place - mid calf.
if your fitting is good, you can pull of a farshi at any height, imho.
for me, budget tragedy stuck and i ended up getting a chiffon lehenga with a long shirt instead of a farshi. however, it will still (iA) kick ass, so its all good :)
